Description:

Arc-Colors Lock-Dialog Theme v0.4

1. Description

This theme is based on the New wave lock-dialog theme (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/New+Wave+Lock-Dialog+Theme?content=87773) and inspired by Arc colors GDM theme.

2. Installation:

2a. Unpack files, there will be 4 files:
- arc-colors-brave_lock-dialogue-0.3.tar.gz
- arc-colors-human_lock-dialogue-0.2.tar.gz
- arc-colors-wine_lock-dialogue-0.2.tar.gz
- arc-colors-wise_lock-dialogue-0.3.tar.gz
which are contain themes for different colors.
and also there will be
arc-colors-images-fr.tar.gz
which contains images for French language.

2b. Unpack files:
- arc-colors-brave_lock-dialogue-0.3.tar.gz
- arc-colors-human_lock-dialogue-0.2.tar.gz
- arc-colors-wine_lock-dialogue-0.2.tar.gz
- arc-colors-wise_lock-dialogue-0.3.tar.gz
to /usr/share/gnome-screensaver/

2b. Open gconf-editor (Alt+F2, type 'gconf-editor' and press enter) change the entry apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_dialog_theme from 'default' to:
- 'arc-colors-brave'
- 'arc-colors-human'
- 'arc-colors-wine'
- 'arc-colors-wise'

2c. If the system's language is French unpack the needed background png from arc-colors-images-fr.tar.gz to arc-colors-[theme's name]-images

3. If you want to get back you old theme you should do step 3 in reverse: replace 'arc-colors-wise' with 'default'

Changelog:

0.1 - Initial version;
0.2 - Three themes were added with different colors and now the theme's files called arc-colors istead newwave;
0.3 - Button highlights were changed in brave theme to blue and in wise theme to green instead of orange. Button's pngs were created by time-trader;
0.4 - It was added French language support for the themes.

 Suggested changes

I really like this theme, and I'm glad to see people making lock dialog themes :) Also, beautiful job on it, though making it four themes (one for each of the colors) would be awesome. But the fact that it overwrites the New Wave one kinda bothered me, so here are some changes I made so it doesn't replace the New Wave lock dialog theme:

Rename "lock-dialog-newwave.glade" to "lock-dialog-arc-colors.glade"

Rename "lock-dialog-newwave.gtkrc" to
"lock-dialog-arc-colors.gtkrc"

Change all of the "newwave-images/" in the gtkrc to "arc-colors-images/"

Rename "newwave-images" to "arc-colors-images"

Then to use the theme change the gconf key to "arc-colors" instead of "newwave".

I think updating this with those changes would really be nice.

I really appreciate your advices so I'll update the theme as soon as possible.
I was busy in these last days so I haven't completed it.

 Buttons highlight/tint

I'd say it's good to change button highlights to blue in brave theme and to green in wise theme, instead of orange. I'm sure you can do it yourself easily, but if you don't have time, I have already done this for the brave theme, so I can send you new buttons png's so you can upload new ones, if interested. Or I may be wrong and people enjoy blue and green themes with orange. )))

 Good effort here

Brave version is looking very nice as part of the "Shiki desktop", with no obvious quirks or crashes happening after locking and unlocking the screen several times. This is one step closer to basically a completely consistent desktop theme, and there's far too few of those around.

Hopefully this will get added to the official Shiki-colors / Gnome-colors PPA before too long. How's progress on that front?

Two improvements:

The normal shiki-colors buttons don't turn quite as blue as yours do in the lock dialogue. They remain the same colour but with a light blue "rounded off cuboid" set within the button. It's the most minor inconsistency, but ironing it out would show great attention to detail.

Also can we have the "Leave message" function back pleease? Some of us actually use it.

First of all thanks for your attention and your advices.
I'll improve the theme as soon as I can.
Sometimes it's very difficult to find some free time due to the work.
