Description:

DEPRECATED
Sorry. This splash screen is based on usplash, which is deprecated. It won't work on Ubuntu 10.04 or newer.

This is another version of the usplash theme fingerprint, working with the resolution of 1024 * 768.

Why another Version?
All the others did not work on my machine, so I customized the code and the pictures a bit and now it works.

How to install?
Just install the .deb package, install via ppa or compile the source code yourself

This Package is available in my ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~phylu/+archive/usplash-theme-fingerprint

Silent or Verbose?
To use the blue text box (screenshot 2) for some booting messages just delete the "quiet" on the boot entry in you menu.lst.

I found a Bug! What now?
Please leave a comment, with a description of the bug. Also post the boot-entry of your menu.lst, which linux distribution you use, and what version. The version of the fingerprint theme is also important.

PPA has changed!

Changelog:

V 0.1-1
* Public release

V 0.11
* Test version with a smoother looking load bar.
* This theme is now working on Intrepid

V 0.12
* Edition of all pictures in order to look good also booting in verbose mode.

V 0.13
* Edition of the background image

V 0.14
* Download via PPA

V 0.15
* Version for Jaunty released.

V 0.16
* Resolution Settings schould be automatic done

Planned
* Support for other resolutions
* Bugfix: textbox too small
* Version for Plymouth

 kickass but - text box

love the theme
although for some reason the text box (whatever its called - activated by changing quiet in menu.lst) isnt located in the spot it is shown to be by the second screenshot. it is much larger and off the the right and down a bit. the text is also a different colour but i assume that can be changed in startup manager.

i like having the text because it is nice to see whats happening, also because im not so sure about having "now loading linux, the most advanced operating system" there.

sooo, how can i get it back where it is meant to be?

your version doesnt seem to work at all. sudo usplash shows nothing for a few seconds then closes by itself.

any ideas?

ok i have got it working fine.
the only problem is that instead of saying 'Open Minds. Open Source. Open Future' like on your screenshots it says 'Press Alt + F1 for Verbose Mode'

what can i do to change this?

I tried to install it from the repository without any luck. Then I tried to go back to my old ubuntu usplash and It is not working either. So reinstalled both usplash and usplash-ubuntu-theme yet it didn't work.

Any idea.

sudo apt-get source from phylu ppa and build your own deb packages with checkinstall or build with pbuilder package for 9.04 from 8.10 or 8.04 source.
:-)

What have you done?
How does your menu.lst look like?
How did you install it? The latest version from the ppa?

The resolution you have to use is 1024*768

try to deinstall the fingerprint. then reinstall the normal usplash of your system e.g. usplash-theme-ubuntu.
Then install usplash-theme-fingerprint.

 Not working on Hardy

 by isaacjun16 on: May 13 2009

Score 50%

It seem like there is a problem in hardy, every time it boot or restarts the PC, there is a misplaced black box on the windows where is supposed the verbose appears. I tried another version from here (gnome-looks) and so far is the one that works the best, btw is Fingerprint 0.2 ALPHA 1, with this one only the black box on the boot is misplaced the one on restart (or shutdown) it seems OK

Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional.

In my version for Hardy, there is no function for a verbose mode build.

You could try to download the latest version (which is for jaunty) and compile it yourself. I do unluckily have no longer a hardy machine to pre-compile it.

There is also the problem that the text box in verbose mode is too small and if you use an ext-filesystem the filesystem-check will use more space and go beyond the border of the text box.

I hope i could help.
