Description:

This is another version of the usplash theme fingerprint, working with the resolution of 1024 * 768.

Why another Version?
All the others did not work on my machine, so I customized the code and the pictures a bit and now it works.

How to install?
Just install the .deb package, install via ppa or compile the source code yourself

This Package is available in my ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~phylu/+archive/usplash-theme-fingerprint

Silent or Verbose?
To use the blue text box (screenshot 2) for some booting messages just delete the "quiet" on the boot entry in you menu.lst.

I found a Bug! What now?
Please leave a comment, with a description of the bug. Also post the boot-entry of your menu.lst, which linux distribution you use, and what version. The version of the fingerprint theme is also important.

PPA has changed!

Changelog:

V 0.1-1
* Public release

V 0.11
* Test version with a smoother looking load bar.
* This theme is now working on Intrepid

V 0.12
* Edition of all pictures in order to look good also booting in verbose mode.

V 0.13
* Edition of the background image

V 0.14
* Download via PPA

V 0.15
* Version for Jaunty released.

V 0.16
* Resolution Settings schould be automatic done

Planned
* Support for other resolutions
* Bugfix: textbox too small
* Version for Plymouth

 I just tried it again no luck

this is the error message( i would show you but i cant find a place to upplaod it at on this reply)

Could not open 'usplash-theme-fingerprint_0.12_i386.deb

The package might be corrupted or you are not allowed to open the file. Check permissions of the file.

Which i did and I have full access to it.
I guess I'll chock it up to another usplash that I cant use, I dont know how to compile it and so far I cant get anyone to give me a how to or tutorial on how to do this.

You can try to download the source code. Then open a shell and change to the directory you unpacked the source.

Then type 'make' and the 'sudo make install'

But you need the usplash development package to do so (should be libusplash-dev).

Good luck...

And I'll do my very best to look if I can finde resolve the problem.

Try downloading the Debian package with a download manager such as DownloadThemAll! or Aria. The first time I tried to download, I tried a regular download and the download got corrupted and I got the same message you got. The second time, I downloaded the Debian package with Aria, and I got it successfully installed.

I try to set up a lauchpad ppa until the next version. This should help to use this usplash without any problems.

The problem is that the backround picture has an resolution of 1280*1024 ad it wasn't made by me. So this is the biggest resolution i can make one. But i think there will be one in the next version

I just got this splash theme working, but I have a small issue. When I shutdown, it seems to inverse the colors of the image. its like I am on LSD.

It works just fine on startup, this issue is just on shutdown.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit.

I am sorry, but i really have no idea, where i could look to solve this problem.

Have you tried to compile the theme yourself?

Regards, Phylu
