Updated:  Oct 17 2013

Description:

Now it's easy to customize your desktop!

Conky is a free, light-weight system monitor for X, that displays any information on your desktop.

CONKY-colors is an easier way to configure Conky.

This conky script support multilanguage:
Bulgarian, English, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian

How to install
Go to a terminal and type:
$sudo apt-get install aptitude python-statgrab python-keyring ttf-ubuntu-font-family hddtemp curl lm-sensors conky-all
$sudo chmod u+s /usr/sbin/hddtemp || https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75639
$sudo sensors-detect #answering Yes (default) to all questions, even that last one that defaults to No

Now restart your session

Download and extract the conky-colors.zip and type in terminal in the same directory that has been extracted.
$make
$sudo make install
$conky-colors {options}

$conky-colors --help [for help]

Ex: if your cpu is quad-core and you want the noble color, with hd, network and pidgin monitor and all in portuguese
conky-colors --theme=gnome-noble --lang=pt --cpu=4 --network --hd=default --pidgin

For a working photo widget you need to specify a file or directory in conkyPhoto or conkyPhotoRandom script in ~/.conkycolors/bin/

Update your font cache:
$sudo fc-cache -v -f

+++ Kaivalagi's Scripts (Included in conky-colors) +++
Conky SSL Mail Script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=869771
Conky Rhythmbox Script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=928168&highlight=conky+rhythmbox
Conky Banshee Script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7683570
+++ If you can, say thanks to him for this great work +++

in terminal type conky -c ~/.conkycolors/conkyrc.

To run conky at startup, go to System > Preferences > Startup Applications, click "Add" and add the path to the conkyStart file[/usr/share/conkycolors/bin/conkyStart]

that's all folks!

OPTIONS FROM THE SCREENSHOT:
conky-colors --cpu=2 --calendar --photord --clementine=cd --hd=default --network --theme=wise
conky-colors --sls --weather=brxx0043 --theme=orange
conky-colors --cairo --cpu=2 --clock=cairo --network --theme=blue
conky-colors --ring --network --theme=red
conky-colors --slim --w=1440 --h=900 --theme=white --weather=brxx0043
conky-colors --board --w=1440 --h=900 --theme=cyan

KWON PROBLEMS:
Lua/bash scripts work with conky 1.8.1, but most of the python scripts still doesnt;
SLS MODE only work with lm-sensors configured
The position of the photo and cover may be wrong bc in ubuntu the space between the widgets is different from Archlinux (I'm an arch user now)

 Two questions

Score 50%

Hi mate! I'm a noob in linux world and trying to learn more of that. I like too much your work and have already installed it. I have two questions for you:

1 - When I install your package I must be in /home folder or in /home/thx74 (my personal) folder? Or I must do it from root?

2 - Can you send me (or post) the config file for the 4th conky in picture?

Thanks a lot!!!

P.S Yep! You're right! These are three questions ;)

P.P.S. Sorry for my (bad) english!

well,

1 question:
in your home (/home/thx74) is the better place, but you can also change it to whereve you want, but you must change the path in your conkyrc also, and install it as a normal user, not as root...

2 question:
Quote:

./conky-colors --proc=3 --clock=default --calendar --photord --banshee=oldvinyl --hd=mix

Greetings

Eai :)

Flw!

thanks,
Edit the .conkyrc in your home, a string like that:

${execi 360 ~/.conkycolors/bin/conkyPhotoRandom}${image /tmp/conkyPhoto.png -s 175x120 -p 4,346}${voffset 114}

Just change the bold values and edit the conkyPhoto/conkyPhotoRandom script with the same values

sorry,

the scripts in conkycolor are in "~/.conkycolors/bin/". There you will find conkyPhotoRandom script :)
Try to increment the voffset your .conkyrc:
${execi 360 ~/.conkycolors/bin/conkyPhotoRandom}${image /tmp/conkyPhoto.png -s 175x120 -p 4,346}${voffset 114}

thank you for answering so quick, Ive got one more question. How can I change the width of the conky? because when I change the width of the picture it comes outside the screen. Would like to push the conky more to the left.

 Not Working in Ubuntu lucid

 by ace214 on: Feb 5 2010

I love this script, but it doesn't seem to be working in Ubuntu Lucid. The version of conky is 1.7.2. I simply get no change on my desktop...

Here's the terminal output:
Conky: border_margin is deprecated, please use window.border_inner_margin instead
Conky: desktop window (2c0001d) is subwindow of root window (110)
Conky: window type - override
Conky: drawing to created window (0x4e00001)
Conky: drawing to double buffer

I tried the 1.8.0 version from the PPA and the only thing that changed was the first line of terminal output:
.conkyrc: 23: no such configuration: 'border_margin'

Auf Wiedersehen!

It works now for me- it might have been a video driver issue. The only issue is that the harddrive icon overlaps slightly onto the Network word if there's only one drive present.
