Description:

This iconset won't ever have a massive modification.
All the work I am doing on it right now is just trying to push it to perfection, making small changes release after release [you can see what's happening in the changelog below], so please feel free to report any bug you experience, but first of all ensure you've read the instructions file ;)

Now.. the description can begin...

At first I collaborated with crhispy, releasing different coloured versions of his worderful port "Oxygen-Refit".
Now I decided to create a fork of his porting, integrating some icons I caught around the web, and some others I edited/created by myself.

Please feel free to report and bug within the comments.

A great big thank for you all.

UPDATE

Archlinux users can install this iconset from the AUR repository, just typing:

yaourt -S hydroxygen-iconset

Hydroxygen are also have been included within the GNU/Linux Paldo official repos.
Many thanks to kim88.

 Color folder issue...continue

by Capkirk on: Oct 10 2008

Score 50%

Hi,
I've made a comparison with other icon themes and discovered that the link "gnome-fs-directory.png -_> folder.png" is missing in places dir.
Now color and type folder changes work.
Still gnome-fs-directory-accept.png doesn't work .. I'm trying to figure it out.
Any idea?
I'm running Debian Sid with Gnome 2.22.3

I have checked the sim-link you have missing... and it is where it should be!
I am now updating a newer revision, with 3 new folders colour and some little bugs fixed.
As you'll see in the new release, the gnome-fs-directory will be exactly where it should be.

Many thanks for you answer.
Now all is working except open folder shape managed by gnome-fs-directory-accept.png link though it's there.
Any other idea?

Cheers

Did you tried the new version? I've updated it a few minutes ago.
In the previous one I forgot to insert within the script the instructions to change the gnome-fs-directory-accept and some other icons.

Let me know if the brand new version works now ;)

The new version works. Thanks.
Also I believed that gnome-fs-directory-accept.png link could change the folder icon while the content is opened in another window, instead it changes folder icon when you drag an object over it.
I didn't find ant other gnome naming convention to change a folder icon while the content is browsed in another window.

Cheers.

#2: :( Your Menus etc. !!!, #3, #5: (Scaling and letting shadows. General Mistake.), #9 (not very important), #10: !!! (Scaling)

This are my reason for see it like a AMATEUR work and why I don't use this Set.
I hope I stay clear finally!

Only AWN (big Icons) looks very very nice)!!!

I don't remeber if you previously left a comment on these iconset, but I'll assume you did.
You critics are simply right.
I don't appreciate my general attitude in this work, because I simply resize from 128x128 to smaller resolutions, without caring about shadows, elements, etc.

If I should have drow every sigle icon for every 7 size [128x128, 72x72 ... 16x16] I could have died in the attempt.

I know, brutal scaling is not a good way to make this work, but hey! I don't get any money from this! I don't do this kinda things as my ordinary job, I's just a waste of time for me, and I like to spend it the way I want. In these days, I like brutal resizing :)

Don't you like my iconset? Feel free to use the one you like most, with good icons cared about maximum sizes and minimum ones.

This iconset is not for you.

Thanks for your feedback.

The right command to use is:

./change-type.sh grayfolders

The one you entered doesn't apply gray folders, but orange ones ;)

And, of course, you have to point to the icons folder with the terminal, and THEN type the command above ;)

Sorry! I have mistaken the previous command!
You don't have to put the final "s" to "folders"... the RIGHT command is:

./change-type.sh grayfolder

Sorry.

nice,

He devy, I have a suggestion about a new icon set. In MacOS there are a icon theme named "Black system". You can see a picture here:

http://ubuntulife.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/capture.jpg

and the Iconset can be downloaded from here:

http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16787948&p=1

The thing is: There only are the icons, so the Icon theme must be maded. If you want I wanna help you. Please submite a answer.

First of all: don't call me "devy" :D
Just kidding.. :P

But, seriously, I didn't understand.
Do you want me to include those icons within my hydroxygen iconset?
Or do you want to start a new iconset from zero, with that icons?
Are you sure they are released under a license which gives you the possibility to do so?

Let me know ;)

 A question...

First than all... Great Work!!! This is my favorite icon theme.

In other icon themes I've used, theres an effect of a folder opened when drag some archive in that folder.

My question is: Can I get that effect in this icon theme?

I've downloaded the latest version (10 Oct) but no luck...

I use gnome-2.22.3 on Ubuntu Hardy...

These are some icon themes that do the effect:

The default Ubuntu theme: Human Icon Theme
nuoveXT: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/nuoveXT+2?content=56625
Jungle: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Jungle+Green%2BBlack%2BOrange?content=82403
The Black White series: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

And there are many other that do the effect... Best regards...

Ok.. I've found the solution.
I'll publish the new version with the drag-folder open as soon as I can.
Stay tuned ;)

I tried to take a look to the files of the iconsets you linked, but that way doesn't seems to work with my hydroxygen.

I'll continue to work on it.
