Just revamping the original style to my taste.

It is resolution independant
the screenshot was taken on a 1440x900 resolution
so it could be tight on a 800x600 res
and don\\\'t even think about having it on a 640x480

intall********************************************

in the Gnome menu
open System > Administration > Login Window
and in the local tab drag n drop it in the window
or click install and browse for it

 Doesn't Work

 by gerowen on: Nov 15 2008

Just sits there on Intrepid, good thing I had auto-login configured for my user so restarting my computer got me on around it. The blue one gives me "Not a valid theme archive". It looks really nice though.

I works.. ok.. but each time that I start my Intrepid, I have time to go to a market, buy coffe, prepare it, and come back to work.. and sometimes I have time to can clean the dishes.

 Infinite Loop fix

If the gdm loads forever, then here's the fix. Just copy the en translation file over to human theme.

sudo cp /usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc /usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc.en

The problem is that it loops until this file is available. something like:

Is the file available?
No
How about now?

I have found the solution:
Extract the themes and get rid of the gtk folder in both of them.
Copy in /usr/share/gdm/themes and then select them from the login window, then they will work fine. :))

The previous comment was related to gnome. I have personally tested it on intrepid.

 GDM Not loading. Can't log in.

Hi,

After installing this screen I just have a brown screen that shows the login screen is trying to load, but it just stays there. How do I get around that???

Got around this by running the live cd and removing this theme's folder.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=870982
when it got stuck while the login screen is loading...
Go to text login by ALT+CTRL+F2
if you want gui desktop now...
$ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
$ startx

but we don't need gui to fix it...
$ ls /usr/share/gdm/themes
$ sudo rm -rf /usr/share/gdm/themes/nUbuntu

$ grep -E ^GraphicalTheme /etc/gdm/gdm.conf
showing GraphicalTheme=Human

$ grep -E ^GraphicalTheme /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom
showing GraphicalTheme=nUbuntu

$ sudo nano /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom
search for "nUbuntu", replace it by "Human" as this is the default theme for Ubuntu 8.04

restart your computer or restart gdm: $ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

Yup, same issue here. I'm dual booting both the 64 and 32 bit Intrepid at the moment, and while it was OK on the 32 bit, it caused the login problem on my 64 bit install. Had to delete it manually to be able to login.

Pretty theme, one of the nicest I've seen, but too problematic at the moment to recommend to anyone other than experienced users. Looking forward to seeing it fixed.

The reason that the blue one isn't recognised is because all the files need to be in a folder in the archive. Just open the archive, put everything in there into a folder, and make a new .tar.gz out of it.
