 Some don't appears

by lyceuhns on: Oct 10 2009

Score 50%

Since 2.0, some icons just don't appears (like icons of the category of programs), but in this new version a lot of icons just don't appears (like device icons, arrow icons and much more), what can be happened? Is it because the symlinks?

The new versions are a lot of graceful, but i can't use the full of this. =(

Help please.

That sounds like quite the bug ;)

I'm not sure what you mean about it missing icons. They should all be there.

My suggestion is to remove the old directory first.

It's either going to be in your home directory in a hidden folder called .icons

or it's going to be in /usr/share/icons, in which case you need root privileges to remove it.

Then, you should re-download the latest release, which I just downloaded to check for errors. There are none that I can see ;)

I have no idea what can be.
I have erased the old folders, download the latest, and put it on my ~/.icons and in /usr/share/icons

It doesn't work, a lot of icons appears as well, some others no, like this screenshot: http://www.lyceuhns.net/ele_pcman.png

But, should works, like others, like this:
http://www.lyceuhns.net/othe_pcman.png

=/

It was just for example, any idea?

Ah, You know what? People have reported problems with PCManFM before. I believe it has something to do with the way it handles symlinks.

For now, supported File Browsers are Nautilus and Thunar ;)

I'm sorry, i didn't notice that.
I use PCManFM on LXDE desktop, and on this, there are some icons missing too (menu categories per exemple).

But, that's ok, i hope for new versions to test here again.

Thanks. :D

Thanks for making these beauty, I rediscovered the theme through Humanity, I noticed that you've changed the folder icon so I started using it again, however, it needs more applications' icons, and for last, is there a PPA for the themes?

Don't worry more icons will come :D

In fact, a lot of syncing between Humanity and this theme will happen before the next release.

Right now, I'm just focusing on the polishing of what I have now, leading up to 3.0 which I hope will have every icon currently available in every size.

Also, I'm going to try and perfect those beautiful monochrome icons. I want to make sure that elementary has an un-paralleled experience for those.

Unfortunately, there is no PPA for elementary icons :(

I can't figure out how to make it work! I've followed all the instructions and I still can't make it work. Perhaps there is someone who can be a packager for elementary art team on launchpad?

I don't know about PPAs either, sorry.

About polishing, the monitor icon is a bit shinier than the rest of the theme, and also I would like to see your touch on the buttons (play, stop, FF, FB...) maybe different colors ?

And the last thing, is your color palette for sharing??

Hm.. It should have the same glossiness as folders and the like, but I'll double check it.

I've been getting a lot of request for that. I'll experiment with it, but I'm not sure exactly what I can offer there.

Ah, I don't actually have a real color palette ;) It's all just kind of done by my personal taste. But, feel free to make whatever based on the colors in these icons :D

The glossiness looks great on the blue folders but on a black monitor it becomes too shiny, hint: try the colors of the folders inside the monitor :)

I'm sure you'll make something nice ;)

You have a great taste then. :D

Could you add apps/xmms.svg depicting headphones without a microphone, please? XMMS badly needs an icon better-looking than xmms_mini.xpm.

 Evolution icons

 by molecule-eye on: Oct 29 2009

Score 50%

I notice that Evolution is missing icons. For instance, nearly all the switcher icons are the same. Calendar is the only one that is different (with perhaps another--I can't remember). (The switcher icons are those icons at the bottom of the side bar.)

The problem goes away when I set the theme to inherit from gnome-colors (e.g. gnome-brave) first, rather than gnome.

 gnomemenue & grey icons

I really love these icons, the only thing that I find very ugly is the "e" for the gnome-menue...

do you have an idea when the "grey tray icons" version will come out? would be cool if it would also include tasque, pidgin and skype icons...
can't wait to have it, using humanity now because of the grey icons!

I'm working on it now. You can test it in bzr at lp:elementaryicons

I'll do an initial release for Christmas and eventually I'll most likely deprecate the colored version.

i'm really looking forward to that! i downloaded your theme from here https://code.launchpad.net/elementaryicons/+download but it still doesn't have the monochrome icons.

You said it's in the bazaar branch, so could you tell me how to download it using bzr in ubuntu?
