This release is loaded will all kinds of whoopass. This is that next level that shows why elementary is different from the competition.  Tiny Folders

 by devi710 on: Sep 6 2008

Score 50%

I am sure I am just doing something wrong, but all my folders are tiny.

I dragged and dropped the tar.gz file to my Appearance screen - no problem - and I also dropped the extracted folder to /usr/share/icons

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thank you.

-(running Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10)

sounds right to me. Did you try re-downloading the archive and re-installing?

I always suggest using the latest distro, but I'm not sure why that would affect your icon size.

Did you check to see what the default zoom level in nautilus is?

I had the same problem,I figured it out.Edit the index.theme file and at section [48x48/places] the size is set to 256.Change that to 48 and you are set.

Maybe this should also be altered in the original file.

Thanks nstamoul,

I actually started using a different icon theme, but I keep my eye on the project ;)

Now that there is a .deb package I'll have to try it out again.

I'll try reinstalling it. I know I used this set several versions back and it was fine. I set my zoom to 150% by default, and tried different sizes.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I like the project.

Okay, that doesn't sound bad.

I have my zoom set to 150% by default too :p

If the problem persists, try opening up the theme index file and do a search and replace for "Scalable" make sure you match the case! and replace it with "Fixed"

and see if that changes anything for you.

It has to be some kind of configuration problem. There was a guy who had the same problem, and he fixed it, but he never posted what he did :(

mimetypes have mostly disappeared from Firefox's download window. .zip .pdf. .jpg

This is at least occurring on my computer, running Ubuntu Hardy.

Is there something in specific that you don't like?

I can't really go making a revision based off "it's a bit ugly"

 Not Bad!

Your icon designs are good, but they are inconsistent, some keeps the Tango guidelines and other your own guidelines. First, you have to set your own guidelines or focus one in specific.

Second, you can't say they are inspired on Crystal when icons has not any glass effect.

Finally, SVG sizes, you should place all SVG files on Scalable, and then create PNGs file with sizes you want (16, 24, 32, 64 px, etc). I don't know why resizes SVGs one by one in 16, 24, 48 px.

Well that my recommendation as an icon developer (Crashbit Author).

These icons are in a large transitional phase. I'm working on adhering to some new guidelines right now :)

As you know, it takes a while to draw some of these things.

I think that Crystal has a lot more to offer as inspiration that simply being glassy :p

I'm trying something new with elementary. I know that I can distribute the icons as PNG's like everyone else, but I don't want to. I want elementary to be the most open icon set on gnome-look.

Just because everyone else does it, doesn't mean that's the only way it can be, my friend.

Also, I believe that my Macesque icon set was an inspiration for your icon set, no? I would like to continue to be a trend setter and do things in my own way.
