Sorry, but what is the goal?

Getting the list Adium contacts style?

Why something like this is already possible with plugins officers Pidgin, without resorting to Python ..

Which pidgin plugin does this?

If the aim is to have a contacts-list without window decorations or buttons, and without their status as one in this picture http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/6580/immagineic5.png , then simply set Compiz-Fusion through Ccsm and Pidgin through the plug "mystatusbox".

Otherwise I do not understand what you want ..

yes, something like that. I have no idea how to get it look like on that screenshot using compiz-settings. I have no idea what mystatusbox has to do with it either.

Of course you can set the whole window's opacity, but that wouldn't make sense. I saw murrine-gtk-engine will supported transparent background soon. This might be interesting, though it will not help making the contact list themeable.

There is nothing complicated, if I have done.
However, I think it would be better to write a plugin for Pidgin, drawing inspiration from Adium, if possible, to make it work well.
Good work with your contact-list, though.

I guess writing a plugin in C would be at least as much, or even a lot more complex than using python/screenlets.

Hi,

it would be nice if you could make it compatible with the new gdesklets version 0.36.

I can´t install it. It says the package doesn´t includes installable files.

Thanks :)

 chatrooms?

Very nice screenlet!
Do you mind adding chats(irc) to the list? I don't know python...

Maybe this helps:
chatroom name = pidgin.PurpleConversationGetTitle()

I will try, but highest priority is to manage making it run in the background and notice when pidgin is starting.

Is a way to sync this to the Pidgin buddy list so that it adds users when they come online and removes them when they sign off?

It doesn't work anymore because there were api-changes in the latest pidgin-version.
I'll submit a new version later to fix it.

 Gorgeous, but...

My only problem here is... all I can do is SEE my contact list. If I want to send a message, I need to open it up again. If there were a way to double click a name and send a message it'd be dang slick because this blends with my desktop SO damn well.

Upon further review, yes. Sometimes.

At first it would only work if I already had an IM window open. Now it seems to be working right.

I think I'm just confused, hah. Like I said, excellent work.
