I may work on this in future, but if any python programmers out there want to take this over and improve it, please email me for the latest source.

INSTALLATION

-Install Dependencies:

sudo apt-get install python2.5 python-xdg python-cairo python-gconf python-xlib deskbar

-Download package from this page
-Extract to your desktop, and double click on the installer inside
-Right click on the gnome panel, and go to 'add to panel' and select vista menu

We need people to help make new themes and translate the menu to new languages! Please send me a message if you can help.

Changelog:

Beta 1.07: Includes new theme and fixes multiple program launching and command line errors
Beta 1.08: Basically a total rewrite!
Beta 1.08_1: Fixed Blue Wave theme.
Beta 1.08_2: More languages added.

hello. i am having a problem with the kore theme. I use a single panel at the top of my screen, and when i press the button, the top part of the kore menu theme gets cut off by the panel. i was wondering if there is a way to make the menu show up a little lower.

also...
is there a way to show the menu without adding it to the panel. for instance, if i had no panels, could i press a key combo and make vista menu appear?

Hi, very very thanks for your work! I'm testing your panel and this is the best for me. I'm Italian, i've see you don't have a translation, if you want i can help you for my language.
Now i've a question, how i can change / insert my own personal user picture in your menu?

Thanks in advance

 Help?

I got the WinXP "start" button working, but I can't switch themes, or get it to be transparent. I installed the beta .deb, and the tar.gz, and they both acted the same. Here is the terminal output:

sudo apt-get install python2.5 python-xdg python-cairo python-gconf python-xlib deskbar
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
python2.5 is already the newest version.
python-xdg is already the newest version.
python-cairo is already the newest version.
python-gconf is already the newest version.
python-xlib is already the newest version.
python-xlib set to manually installed.
E: Couldn't find package deskbar

Yeah, it couldn't find the package...Can you help?

Your screenshots look great! I love the one where you have the gnome logo and the transparent panel.

I believe it's deskbar-applet now.
I will release the next version of it soon where changes are applied automatically without having to restart the menu.
