 Bug?

by pjvolders on: Apr 6 2008

Score 50%

Hi,
I'm experiencing a bug with wallpapers that use a clock with arrows (like the traveler background you see in the second image). When it's 12h. (not 0h at night) the hour arrow disappears and reappears when it's 13h.
I changed
Quote:
if int(self.hour24) <= 12:
to
if int(self.hour24) <= 11:

on line 446 in the .py file, this solved the bug. Anyone experiencing the same bug?

Cheers,
PJ

Strange, i downloaded the latest version this morning and still had the bug. After removing both the widget and all the clocks an reinstalling them the bug was gone. Don't know where it came from, sorry for bothering...

cheers,
PJ

ps: are the other, non vladstudio clocks available anywhere?

 Great Screenlet

This is lovely. I really like this (Vladstudio makes such elegant wallpapers), but I have an issue where the bottom half or so of the screen occasionally goes black and remains that way until the minute changes again. Is this common, is there a fix?

Great work btw!

Hi, i like very much the wallpaper clock screenlets and Vlad is making a great job (as you do, Whise) and i have the same bug as portachking since i've upgraded to Hardy. There's nothing noticeable in the logs :(

I had the same problem.

I changed the python file to
Quote:

try:
# This is a slow operation!!!
self.image.save (self.mypath+'wallpaper.working.png')
os.system ("mv -f "+self.mypath+"/wallpaper.working.png "+ self.mypath + '/wallpaper.png')
except:
pass

Just search for the slow operation line, then change the try to my two lines

I can't help too much because I don't really know python so there probably is a better way, but this stops the half saved file from being set to your background

Thank you arcys, this workaround works perfectly.

I have enabled the workaround for this issue, but it still is not resolved 100%.

Would it be possible to use xsetroot, or another program, instead of gnome to set the desktop wallpaper? I don't know if that would break compiz-fusion...

On my PC the problem persists. The mentioned workaround has been apparently incorporated by the author already (last release or release before), but it works only occasionally, no difference whether the black screen workaround is activated or not.

Has anyone encountered similar problems?

Thanks.

yeah, I actually have the same problem, even with the workaround checked. It's a real shame, as I really love the wallpaper clocks!

 KDE widescreen users

if anyone else is in my particular boat, where the resolutions aren't quite right for your screen, edit WallpaperClockScreenlet.py and change the line
os.system("/usr/bin/dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper " + self.mypath + "/wallpaper.png 7")

to have a 6 at the end instead, which is the mode to stretch the wallpaper instead of just scale it - which leaves blank areas at the sides.

I think Gnome users can just set this mode in the settings dialogue.

 Doesn't Auto Start

by clydejsn on: Jun 1 2008

Unlike my other screenlets, for some reason this doesn't autostart on startup. I have to go into the Screenlets Manager and restart all screenlets for it to start. Yes...I have the Start/Stop and Auto start on login both checked. Also, if I go into my Sessions Preferences, it shows up under the Additional startup programs but not under my Current Session. Any ideas? Is is just me? Thanks for your time.
