Description:

A themeable Sidebar Screenlet: Install , launch and manage screenlets through the sidebar menu , also allows you to install screenlet packages by drag drop the screenlet tar file into the sidebar , you can reserve screen space for the sidebar and also select the alignment

Instructions to make it work like a sidebar

First go on the sidebar properties and select "keep bellow" and unselect "keep above"
then on all the other screenlets go on properties and unselect "keep above" but DO NOT select "keep bellow" , that way the sidebar will stay bellow and all the other screenlets will stay on top off it but bellow all other windows

 New docking feature

Congrats Whise! Nice feature! I really like it.
Just one small suggestion: I want to have 4 small circular sensors on it, in a 2x2 disposition, but this feature resizes them to occupy the whole Sidebar's width. Perhaps you could set a way to make some screenlets occupy only half of the width.
Anyway, it's great!

 Re: New docking feat

I've got v2 installed, but I can't seem to get anything to "dock" as I'd expect. I set the above/below settings as per the instructions. My existing screenlets re-sized when placed over the sidebar, but if I move the sidebar, the screenlets "on" it do not move with it as I'd expect if they were truly "docked".

I must be missing something?? ;-)

TIA for any insight

Cheers

are you expected to move a 'dock'?

Hey Whise,

Well I wouldn't move it on a regular basis, but consider this...

You are playing with all your screenlets and you have them "docked" (which to me means they won't leave what they are docked to unless you detach them). You want to see what they look like on the sidebar with different alignments. Currently you have to manually drag all your screenlets to the new position of the sidebar when you change it's alignment. It sure makes the initial setup a real PITA.

So to me (not that I'm the final word on the topic), when something docks it is stuck to whatever it's docked to (like applets on avant window navigator).

That said, once you've found the right spot for everything, you will most likley not have to fuss with it anymore.

Either way....you do great work Whise...keep it up. I've left the sidebar for now, and will have some questions for you on some issues I'm having with ring sensors (locking up and generally misbehaving) ;-)

Cheers

I've been keeping an eye on this screenlet since you first released it, and I must say the progress you've made with it's quite impressive. There's just one thing that's still keeping me from using it - I have all of my screenlets lined up along the bottom edge of my screen, and there's still no option to have the sidebar aligned to the top or bottom. Aside from that, very nice work, keep it up!

Hi!

The latest version I've downloaded here was the 0.7. I see that there is the version 2.0. How can I download it?

Thanks.

 Install under Hardy

Just installed under Hardy Heron, and I'm not seeing the artwork. Appears to work fine otherwise... just no art. Toggling compiz/fusion doesn't appear to have any effect.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to troubleshoot the issue.

Otherwise, great screenlet.

I have the same problem. I use Ubuntu Hardy Heron and cannot see the sidebar, but it is there because when I right click on it, the sidebar menu merges.

When I try to install the screenlet, the screenlets manager shows a message warning which says: "Sidebar was not packaged with the screenlet packager. Do you wish to continue and try to install it?"

Hoping to keep this thread going. I too have a completely updated version of Hardy installed and it seems that background artwork does not show.

Please help, this is a great tool!
