Description:

This is a clone of the windows vista aero style.

This theme is based on etiennealaurent`s LiNsta theme which you can get here:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/LiNsta+%28LiNsta+is+Not+Vista+%3B-%29?content=42697

What makes this theme special:

-Apps have different toolbar styles!
Nautilus = green
Eog (gnome picture viewer) = black
all other apps have normal gray toolbars

-The Vista button is not a wallpaper (its a screenlet)

----------Installation------------

visit the installation Howto at my blog:
http://gnomestyle.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-ubuntu-look-like-vista.html

0.This theme needs the microsoft segoe UI font to look good.
Look at this Forum > second post
http://www.crashboard.net/index.php?showtopic=1750&pid=17968&mode=threaded&start=

1.Install the beryl and gtk theme as usuall

2.Install the nuoveXT-aero icon set

or

Place the "start-here" icon in /usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/places or run the "place-the-icon.sh" script in the terminal (it asks for the root password)

3. Change the gnome-panel size to 32px height

4.Install the "orb" screenlet (you need to have the application "screenlets" installed). Place the orb screenlet above the main-menu button and lock the position.

You can get "Screenlets" here:
http://www.compiz.org/Desktop_Screenlets

ps: If you don`t like vista clones, check out my other uploads. :)

Hello,
I downloaded screenlets-0.0.7.tar.bz2 and did this:
"Extract the archive into some directory. Navigate to that directory.
As root-user run "python setup.py install" (Ubuntu users just add a
leading "sudo" to install)."

when I try to run it I get those errors:

"laptop@ubuntu:~$ screenletsd start
Screenletsd v0.0.1 | (c) RYX (Rico Pfaus) 2007 | released under the GPL
laptop@ubuntu:~$ CachingBackend: Loading cache ...
Session-file /home/laptop/.config/Screenlets/screenletsd.ses not found (will be created automatically).

Yes, you need to run either Beryl or Compiz.

 couple of minor erro

 by greengrass44 on: Aug 1 2007

I found a couple of broken items with the 06.05.07 GTK2 download:

/usr/share/themes/aero-clone/gtk-2.0/toolbar-custom.rc:21: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Toolbar/toolbar-black.png"

I downloaded LiNsta3 and unpacked it into a tmp directory. Then copied the LiNsta3 toolbar-black.png to the aero-clone theme directory.

Next:
/usr/share/themes/aero-clone/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:187: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Arrows/arrow-up.png"
/usr/share/themes/aero-clone/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:191: Overlay image options specified without filename

cp ../Arrors/arrow-up2.png ../Arrows/arrow-up.png

in the aero theme directory.

YMMV

Wow I love it this is a perfect imitation, thanks.

But I would like to have the same background image for the default menu (not the vista globe, the gnome menu) as for the toolbar. Can you tell me how to do this please ?

Thanks !!!

Where did you find the nuoveXT-aero iconset? The download appears to be corrupted.
