Description:

Yet another Linux Distro Timeline

I was so impressed by the other two timelines that I decided to build on the fine work that had proceeded me.

enjoy

ps: If anyone is interested in a hard copy of this, send me an e-mail. Litho is too expensive, but I might be able to get an A1 digital print done at a not too unreasonable cost if I order 50 copies.

Changelog:

Ver 1.0 First attempt
v 1.01 Epoch -> Enoch (typo) thx npu
v 1.02 Victor -> Vector (typo) thx marciUn
v 1.1 revised layout added muLinux

US dates vs. rest-of-world dates. In the US, we write it backwards.

 The ultimate ideal..

by Kwilliam on: Oct 4 2006

would be an SVG-based Linux Timeline wiki!

-- The K in Kwilliam does not, in fact, stand for KDE. --

Yes, it would be possible to setup a Wiki to produce SVG Timeline. I would think you would need to limit the scope of data that could be entered to a relatively fixed format. This could then be rendered into a SVG image. I think it might be necessary to have a graphic editor input to move some of the parts of the timeline around. Parts of the technology required are already around, if someone (else) want to have a go....

 What about Ark Linux

by SoloSalsa on: Oct 14 2006

One of the other time lines had Ark, but not Yellow Dog. You have Yellow Dog, but not Ark. A wiki would be wonderful, but sounds to good to be true. Anyway, please add Ark Linux to it.
