 a minor problem

 by sadi on: Nov 9 2015

Score 50%

I liked this theme more than similar others (e.g. Greybird, Zukitwo, Vertex Light).
However there's a minor problem with thunderbird which doesn't exist in others (maybe necessary tweak can be found by having a look at them) and it is that thin line popping up when you click the application menu that appears on the title bar when you hover on it.
BTW we also have that line permanently from the start (i) in TB addressbook and compose windows, (ii) between toolbar and tabbar in some GTK2 apps (excluding Chrome browser), and (iii) between standard and format toolbars in LibreOffice).

I've fixed the problem in Thunderbird by enabling this (no-shadow) which was commented out in /gtk-2.0/gtkrc:

GtkMenuBar::shadow-type = GTK_SHADOW_NONE

 an improvement suggestion

 by sadi on: Nov 9 2015

Score 50%

I understand that there are two approaches to check-boxes and radio-buttons at the moment: (1) showing only the selected/enabled ones (e.g. Snowbird, Greybird, etc.) and (2) showing all (e.g. Zukitwo, Vertex Light).

I personally think the second approach is more useful as there are quite a few cases when the user is left quite in the dark about the choices available when you can't see a check-box or radio-button that you can select unless you are very familiar with that application/tool.
I think the understandable choice for a cleaner workspace shouldn't make life difficult for average user.
Of course, the final decision is yours ;-)
Perhaps the users can just use a tweak for this (maybe by providing a simple script to enable/disable such a feature?)

Found it!
If interested, here's a way to implement this:

Use "gtk-widgets-assets.css" from the new (GTK-3.18) Mavericks theme here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Mavericks?content=174324 only adding any missing lines from Snowbird theme.

 Chrome/Chromium inactive tabbar bgcolor

 by sadi on: Nov 11 2015

Unlike other apps, background color of tab bar in Chrome/Chromium becomes markedly darker (losing smooth transition from title bar), which I guess is not preferred.

 [FIXED] Chrome/Chromium inactive tabbar bgcolor

I've just discovered that changing "ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-color" and "ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-gradient-color" values to the same as "...::frame-color" and "...::frame-gradient-color", respectively, fixes this :-)

 synaptic toolbar patchy bgcolor

Synaptic Package Manager toolbar has a slightly darker bgcolor around tool buttons although other areas are lighter, i.e. same as title bar.

Adding the following section to the end of "gtk-widgets.css" fixes this:

Quote:

/********************************************
* fix for synaptic toolbar patchy bgcolor *
********************************************/
GtkHandleBox {
color: @toolbar_fg_color;
background-color: @toolbar_bg_color;
background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom,
shade(@toolbar_bg_color, 1.00),
shade(@toolbar_bg_color, 0.90)
);
}

 unity panel menuitem hover effect

 by sadi on: Nov 11 2015

Unity panel menuitem hover effect does not look quite the same as app window menuitem hover effect, e.g. shade of color, sound top corners, etc.

 [FIXED] unity panel menuitem hover effect

Changing the last section in "./apps/unity.css" as follows fixes this a bit - I think it's impossible to make them 100% same:

Quote:

.unity-panel.menubar.menuitem:hover,
.unity-panel.menubar .menuitem *:hover {
border-width: 2px 0 0 0;
border-radius: 6px 6px 0 0;
border-color: shade(@panel_bg_color, 1.0);
background-image: -gtk-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom,
from (shade(shade(@selected_bg_color, 1.3), 0.90)),
to (shade(shade(@selected_bg_color, 1.3), 0.95)));
color: @panel_bg_color;
}

You're welcome. I wish I knew how to make those hidden radio buttons and check boxes visible ;-)

 gedit: flat toolbar buttons?

 by sadi on: Nov 15 2015

Score 50%

This theme looks perfect even under Ubuntu 15.10, but there might be a couple of things to do so as to achieve real perfection, and it seems non-flat buttons in gedit toolbar (and some other apps) is one of them.

A little help would be much appreciated to fix this.
