The icons work fine on any Ubuntu version also I don't maintain the PPA but you can always download the latest version from our site.

I have contacted the maintainer of the PPA so it should be upgraded soon.

We recommend you use our PPA, as it was updated some hours ago packages for the supported Ubuntu aren't all available yet, only for Trusty but they will be available today.

I was using the ppa you provided in the description all the time... And indeed, it is available now. :-)

Thanks!

 some further suggestions

by sadi on: Nov 27 2013

Score 50%

1) A better PPA (neither upubuntu nor noobslab can keep pace with fast development of Nitrux icons ;-)
2) A mono-light variant to complement the mono-dark that we already have
3) Pending app icons: FatRat, TorBrowser, Virtaal, YAGF, YouTubeDownloader

I'll check if I can set up a PPA.

The light variant is already available at deviantART, the dark variant is the one by default.

I'll check those icons.

I'm already using the light variant and apparently I didn't realize that default one is also the dark variant ;-)
And thank you for all!

 New folders are great!

by sadi on: Feb 16 2014

Score 50%

Thanks for keeping this great theme continuously improved, which is something unusual in this area where there are many great themes that were abandoned after a year or two.

I have another minor improvement suggestion.

PROBLEM:
The default NITRUX is good for light GTK and Metacity themes while NITRUX-mono-dark is for the dark ones.
But there's a minor problem with the latter, because there chiefly two different variants of DARK themes; those which are ALL DARK, and those which have a LIGHT workspace with a DARK window frame, DARK title/tool/menu/tab bars, etc.
The problem is actually with this latter sub-group of themes, where LIGHT icons are displayed in a LIGHT workspace - see: http://ubuntuone.com/4cUNeZC2NYp2MB7LXsvQGX

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
1) Using the same BLUE icons (like folders) in both NITRUX and NITRUX-mono-dark icon themes
2) Using BLUE icons (like folders) in NITRUX-mono-dark icon theme
3) Adding another, e.g LIGHT-DARK version in addition to NITRUX-mono-dark with those icons copied from the default NITRUX icon theme.

Again thanks a million for your great work of art embodied in this elegant icon theme!

I see what you mean, although it's not necessarily something that it's broken or missing, however it'd mean doing even more variants for each scenario like the ones you describe.

Yes.
But I thought only a third - hybrid - variant would suffice.
What do you call those icons displayed in information/warning dialog boxes, where are they?
Maybe I can just create a custom variant of NITRUX-mono-dark with only this icon subset copied from the default NITRUX icon set.

The ones in the toolbars are from actions/, the ones for the indicators in gtk 2 panels are from status/, the ones in dialogs are also in status/ however those have the prefix "dialog-x-x". It'd only mean replacing those in your case.

Muchas Gracias!
I simply created a NITRUX-mono-lightdark folder and with a modified version of index.theme file, and then symlinked everything, except those 6 "dialog-..." status icons, which I symlinked from the default NITRUX theme, and that's it!

 Missing icon in uGet

I've recently begun using uGet and noticed that NITRUX doesn't provide an icon for "Finished" items. Maybe you can add this to you To Do list...

We're handling missing icons via github, add the request to the issues section so it doesn't get lost :D

I really like all the improvements you did here, but on gnome shell icon for settings in user menu is weird. And also, in some apps (easy tag for instance) I have 3 dots as an icon.

gnome icons on the left and nitrux on the right

The settings icon in the shell menu is changed from tools (a screwdriver and a wrench) to sliders, basically because we're dealing with computers not cars. And the 3 dots icon is for the settings, again, we're dealing with software so a cog is out of context, the dots simply indicate "more" (e.g. 1,2,3...).

Thanks!.
