Description:

There is no clock like this as one user said
"It's pure and utter MADNESS, like some mystifying marvelous work of a mad scientist."

This should work on any full conky installations irrespective of linux distro or flavour. I run it on LinuxMint12 KDE.

To appreciate this clock you need to see it move. Check the links for the 2 minutes duration video.

Revolutionary clocks comes in 4 sizes
HD, midi, mini & supermini

It is distinguished from other such clocks by the clock rings not having a fixed starting position but rather move as a function of time and likewise expand circumferentially as a function of time.

It is fully configurable.
The lua script is explained in the c_c_s_explanation.txt file.

To install just move or copy the " .Conky " hidden folder to your user/home folder! (note capital C for .Conky)

Remember to install the fonts!

To run, execute ' start_conky.sh '

To enable conky to start with the system go to " startup applications " and add in the " command " the file

" .Conky/revolutionary_clock/...x.../start_conky.sh "

where ...x... signifies the desired conky size e.g. rev_hd.

Enjoy!!!

p.s.
pls leave feedback or improvements etc.
Also score it if your a member (of gnome-look.org or any of its sister sites.)

that is the default conky output. It means although conky is running the downloaded files are not.

1. first check the install path is correct and no spaces have crept into the folder names and the .Conky zipped file should be directly under your home directory.

you can check this by typing n (cutting and pasting) the following into a terminal:

dir $HOME/.Conky/

dir $HOME/.Conky/revolutionary_clock/

dir $HOME/.Conky/rev_midi/

each line should output the files in those folders respectively, if not then that is where your problem is and you need to correctly place the ' .Conky ' hidden folder.

2. if the above outputs ok with the file names then type (or cut and paste) the following into the terminal

conky -c $HOME/.Conky/revolutionary_clock/conkyrc &

Or

conky -c $HOME/.Conky/rev_mini/conkyrc &

the first is for the large clock and the second is for the mini clock.

Let me know how it goes.

you could use the mini version

conky -c $HOME/.Conky/rev_mini/conkyrc &

or change the following parameters in the lua script

cup_radius
saucer_radius
Graduation_radius

once you done that
then need to relocate it
by change x and y

This can all be done easily with 'find & replace' function in text editor like kate

if you tell me how much smaller I could do it for you.

Instructions don't seem to match content

by ashael on: Jun 23 2012

Hi,
I've downloaded the tar.gz to /user/home/ and extracted it. It extracts a folder named "revolutionary_clocks" (plural). I see no folder named .Conky ("show hidden folders" is on). I tried creating one and copying the folder into it after changing the folder's name to "revolutionary_clock". I tried executing it from the terminal using the commands you've suggested to previous commenters, but it doesn't work and I get error messages when checking the folders from the terminal. Could you please help?

Thanks in advance

Sorry with the current version make a folder under the home directory named " .Conky "
Then extract "revolutionary_clocks" (plural) directly into the .Conky folder.

Install the fonts! (optional - better alignment)

Run / execute any of the ' start_conky.sh ' scripts. (change their properties to executable)

if that fails try running in a terminal the following command

conky -c $HOME/.Conky/revolutionary_clocks/rev_midi/conkyrc &

[change the above folder "rev_midi" for which ever version you like

(except "all" which needs to be run four times with X varying from 1-4

conky -c $HOME/.Conky/revolutionary_clocks/all/conkyrcX &

)]

paste in a terminal

killall conky
conky -c $HOME/.Conky/revolutionary_clocks/rev_midi/conkyrc &

post the error that is returned in the terminal.

the lua script and conkyrc should both be owned and running as user and not root. If there is a mismatch that can cause a problem

To think that all i was trying to find out was how to change the color on my simple clock arms.
