 Difference in Tooltips?

by HamishWilson on: Feb 27 2012

Score 50%

I mainly use this theme due to the fact it provides fairly good consistency between GTK2 and GTK3 applications. However, one thing that bugs me is the huge difference in Tooltips. Is there anyway that this could be improved?

Thank you,

 Update to Gnome 3.4?

I am just wondering if you have any plans to get this working on Gnome 3.4 soon? I would like to be able to use it on Fedora 17.

Hey, yes i am going to update this theme so it works with Gnome 3.4. Every Gnome update seems to break stuff, this time they changed alot in the theme making it very hard for me to sync the changes with between Adwaita and Adwaita Elements.

The easiest way seems to be to start over again and using the latest Adwaita theme for base.

So it may take a little longer due to this.

I have released an pre-release of Adwaita Elements 0.2 that works with Gnome 3.4. I know there are some missing things, but since it's a while since the last update i felt like sharing this work-in-progress release.

 to many gradients

by atenrok on: Oct 21 2012

I was attracted to this theme initially since it is a lower tone comparing to extreme "whiteness" that prevails in original Adwaita, But the fact that you've added gradients in places where they were not originally, has turned me away. Just my 2ยข.

So have you made any more progress on updating the theme? I am beginning to worry that I may have to look for something different with the pending release of Fedora 18 (Gnome 3.6).

I am sorry that i haven't had the time to work on the theme, every Gnome update seems to break something.
But i have not abandoned this theme since it's my default theme.

Hopefully i get some time fixing the theme.

Here's the new Adwaita Elements, it is now based of clearlooks-phenix, wich makes things much easier.
Note this is a preview release, so it's not finished - you can grab it here

I had to try it out on my brothers machine as my main computer is still on Fedora 16. It is looking good, although I noticed a slight oddity with the Nautilus sidebar: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/screenshot011212105902p.png/

That's a design issue that have been fixed in Nautilus 3.6
Before i had to manually add a border to the nautilus sidebar, this is now not needed in nautilus 3.6

Here's an image how it looks in Nautilus 3.6

And yes i will make the buttons prettier ;)

 Latest test release

Things are looking rather good now; only quibbles are with the buttons in GTK3 (which you commented on) and the fact that in GTK3 the menus and scrollbars have Clearlooks like themeing as opposed to what is seen in the GTK2 theme.

Tested on Fedora 18 Beta.

The menus and scrollbars will be fixed, dont worry ;)
The most challenging part will be the buttons,
GTK3 stretches images different than in GTK2. I hope that it can be fixed soon.

Nice, although I swear the colours in the menus are different, with the GTK3 one having a gradient. I also noticed one other knit to pick: the tooltips in GTk2 are now square bordered while GTK3 are round. Which is odd since it used to be the other way round for me, but anyway...

Keep up the good work!

I have not added any new features for the theme yet, but suggestions are welcome, so just point out if there's anything i should fix of add.
I am for the moment just waiting to see what will be broken when the next version of Gnome arrives ;)

Oh btw i have made an addon that adds a border to the top panel, just like in Gnome 3.0
you can grab it here http://unlogical.net/files/themes/Gnome/Extensions/panel.border@overflow.net.tar.gz
put it in /home/user/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/

Great work, although I do not understand the Firefox instructions you have in the description.

Main remaining problems I am experiencing:
1. Firefox and LibreOffice still show white text when menu selected
2. pavucontrol still has inconsistent background colours between items
3. The whole GTK3 button issue
