Description:

Vector icon theme for GTK. It can be used with XFce or GNOME. (I added logos for Ubuntu. Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Debian, SUSE, Fedora, Gentoo, Arch, Zenwalk, Mndriva and Mint)

I put all files into git repository on github https://github.com/jcubic/Clarity All errors and missing icons you can submit as issues there.

There are seven predefined themes (in five color schemes)

caeruleus - blue gradient
lux_caeruleus - glossy variant
canus - grey gradient(default)
dark_canus - dark grey gradient (for light themes)
luteus - orange gradient
violaceus - violet/pink gradient
lux_violaceus - glossy variant
viridis - green gradient

To install copy Clarity folder to ~/.icons

You can now use PPA to install clarity icons
 $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jcubic/jcubicppa && sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install clarity-icon-theme

To change color theme of icons:
  1. open folder ~/.icons/Clarity
2. double click change-theme
3. select the theme and click ok

If you install from PPA repository or deb package:
 $ gksu change-theme

or from terminal:
 $ cd ~/.icons/Clarity
$ make (name of the theme)

If you install from PPA repository or deb package:
 $ cd /usr/share/icons/Clarity
$ sudo make (name of the theme)

To change distributor logo

 $ cd ~/.icons/Clarity
$ make fedora

(available logos are: arch, debian, fedora, gentoo, gnome, kubuntu, madriva, mint, suse, ubuntu, xfce, xubuntu and zenwalk)

If you install from PPA repository or deb package:
 $ cd /usr/share/icons/Clarity
$ sudo make fedora

FURTHER CUSTOMIZATION

You can create your own colors for icons
by modifying or creating new template which is SVG file.

After creating new template in src/template_your_name.svg just double click change-theme and select your theme. (if you want to use make you must run configure first)

NOTE: You must have installed zenity, change-theme depend on it

I just build blue icons using both make and change-theme script that in both cases all icons are changed. The icons that ramain unchanged are only wireless loading, system-upgrade, few actions and linux logo (those in static folder).

I will make wireless loading icons, and spelling changeable.

As for covergloobus, banshee and playonlinux they are not in the package. Clarity inherit icons from AwOken icons (they are similar) so they are taken from that theme.

 Arch-PKG / More icons / Error in Makefile?

 by boenki on: Jan 9 2012

Hello! I made a PKGBUILD of this cool iconset which builds ALL colors in one package. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=46996

I also symlinked some icons from here to there to support some more apps. See PKGBUILD. I'd be glad if you could put some of these links in your package.

I still miss the following icons: wicd, HP-Device-manager, CUPS.

At last, I think I found an error in your makefile. In all actions for the different distros (arch,suse,fedora etc) you "ln" svg to png. Each last 3 lines seem to be wrong.

I added your symlinks, and I will add missing icons, I will publish packages soon.

In your PKGBUILD file you link to the path of the pachage and the version number, but when I upload new version of the package to fileden, the path will change (because it contain the date when it was uploaded).

The license is GPL not CC-BY

And thinks for using my icons.

That's mistake, it should be GPL, besides in all icons there is separate copyright notice and on the page and everywhere there is GPL. I will fix README.

I updated the license notice in README.

PS: In your PKGBUILD file you put the path to the file (with version as variable) but every time I upload new version of the package, the path will be different, because the path contain the date of the upload.

Yeah, I must change the date everytime you release a new version.
I just introduced a new variable for the releasedate.

Now I only wonder: 2011/2/28 ???

 PPA Fail

Not sure if you're aware, but the PPA build failed due to the use of imagemagic's "convert" command not being found.

Other than that, keep up the great work!

Could you add icons for JDownloader and cups? Do you plan a script to change the distributorlogo while changing the color of the icons?

You can change the logo using make, but I can create a script just like for changing theme.
