 Altre personalizzazioni

Grazie ancora :)

 updates via ppa

 by apoole7 on: Aug 25 2010

Firstly, thank you for all your hard work in providing this excellent icon set.
Is it possible that when updating via the ppa it could check for an existing install & if present not update index.theme or whatever file saves customizations?

Although no great hardship, but every time there is an update I have to go through and re-do all customizations.

Once again thanks!

Regards

Andy

I'm trying to solve a problem, doing a customization file (to insert perhaps in the home) in wich you can save your preferences.

The problem is that there isn't already such a file, and my bash knowledge is low, and I don't know how to do a program so complex!

PS: in my dreams there will be a GUI with buttons and checkboxes and so on, but I don't know how to do!! :(:(:(

It shouldn't be too hard to do a simple script for saving preferences. With the right tool I might even give a shot at doing a simple gui...

However, I've never done cross-platform development, or gui development, so it would be a kludge (maybe bash to get home directory and everything, then python for any gui? a hook in the .deb file to automatically load settings after install? Maybe save files to some other directory, then symlink to home folder with its own .theme file, so you don't need root to change theme...)

In any case, right now I'm busy, but in about a month I'll have some spare time to try my hand at this. If you don't hear from me for a while, poke me about this so I don't forget.

Really love the theme btw.

Unfortunately I don't know a lot of bash programming, so for me it's too difficult..

However, perhaps is more simple doing a little more complex script.

Firstly, I thiked about a file in the home (called for example ".awokenrc"), in wich user can save its customization preferences.

With a new installation (or an update), in the installation pack there will be a script that reads this file and apply automatically preferences. Clearly, if the user want another customization, the only thing that he have to do is edit the .awokenrc file, and then recall the same function that automatically starts with a fresh install.

I think that for example knowing the user who called the script is not so difficult..no?

However, thanks for the disposability and for the compliments..see you in a month! :D

PS: a problem that comes to mind is that having the theme in /usr/share/icons directory, it's impossible (at least for me) make two different customizations for two different users in the same machine..the iconset is the same! :(

You're right.. it would be tricky to do..

One possibility is to symlink all of the files, instead of physically keeping them in /usr/share/icons.

It would be a bit of a mess, but basically, you could store the icon theme in /usr/share/whatever, then crawl through the files, and create the same folder structure in ~/.icons/Awoken/, but by actually creating the necessary folders, and only symlinking the files. this way, the symlinks can be changed easily and only for that user, and the script won't need access to root.

However, this would mean the icons aren't available to other users unless the script is run by that user.

I'm not sure how to go about doing this, so I posted a question on the ubuntu forums. Perhaps we could keep the theme in /usr/share/icons, symlink there from a folder with a different name and set the icon theme to that new name. I don't know how to set the icon theme from the command line though..

Maybe the best is put the set in another folder (for example /usr/share/foo), and symlink in the home folder, so the entry in the selection of the icontheme remains one and there are no confusions.. :D

First thank you for the wonderful icon set. Only one request: I'd like to see icons for the programs FBReader, Battle for Wesnoth and Lazarus.

P.S. I apologize for bad English. I used a translator.

I signed this applcations for drawing..

For wesnoth there is a problem: I've made the icon but I cannot find the correct name, and without the correct name of the icon the icon will not change! :(
