 Scribes and Xchat-gnome icon

I would please like to put in a request for two icons: scribes.png and xchat-gnome.png. I have links for how the default icons look. Would be awesome if you could make an Awoken version. Thanks.

For xchat the icon is drawed yet (just wait for the next version).
For scribus I'll work on it, even if it's at a too low resolution to make a good work (and I cannot find a source file from wich take it).. However, I think that gedit icon works fine as well as for scribus.. what do you think for this?

Yes, it could possibly work, but it would be nice to have a small way to tell the difference. Identical icons become a problem when you have a dock with two programs with the same icon. Perhaps you can put a small "s" next to the pen icon from gedit?

Yes sure! the problem rely only in the difference between those apps.. I'll think how to get the best way to do this, and I'll upload it from the next version! :D

I just realized something. You have mistaken my request for a scribes icon as a scribus icon. I'm requesting a scribes icon, not a scribus icon. Scribes is an awesome text editor. Sorry it took so long for me to realize the mistake.

Hi, I use these wonderful icons in Ubuntu Lucid. Unfortunately, since the last update, they look blurry in my panel at any panel size less than 32 pixels. Okay, so I resized my panel - I like it smaller, but can live with 32. But then, the icons in indicator applet fail to resize at any panel size so they're still blurry.

Then I noticed it's not just the panel - my menu, toolbar, and button icons all look blurry unless they're set (in my GTK theme) to be at least 32 pixels. Well, needless to say sizing all those up to 32 makes my desktop look a bit goofy.

If you have any suggestions, that would be great. Thanks!

Hi arobase,

Thanks for pointing out that you posted on this already - I missed that.

As a workaround, I just removed the entire 24x24 folder, rebuilt the icon cache, and voila, the blurriness was gone.

I know about this, but this returns us back to the problem with the huge icons in empathy, minitube and bunch of other apps.

Sorry but my english is bad.. I resume the situation: with 32x32 pixels icon, the panel show a blurry effect? But, if you reduce it to a 24x24 px size, the effect disappears?

Removing 24x24 folder may cause other problems (like huge empathy icons [as said by arobase], but there are others), so I cannot do this.

But perhaps there is a workaround: try to edit the index.theme (located in .icons/AwOken/index.theme)!

For each entry related to 24x24 pixels wide (from line 74 to line 122) add these two following elements:

MaxSize 1
MinSize 24

and tell me if it works, so I'll add it to the "official" pack! :D

Hi alecive,

For clarification, the icons are blurry if I use any panel size *less* than 32 pixels (that is, blurry at 28, 26, 24, etc. and NOT blurry at >=32).

Your post suggests that your solution would work on the *opposite* problem (BLURRY at <32). Should I still try the solution you suggested?

Thanks again for your great work!

 jD, wxMaxima and NetBeans

First of all : great job! These icons are perfect :) But right now, there are 3 icons remaining in my awn which look a bit unfitting. These are : jDownloader, wxMaxima and NetBeans.

Would u like to do some icons for them, please? :)

I found some links, which show, how they look right now :
jDownloader : http://softfive.com/files/uploads/JDownloader-icon.jpg
wxMaxima : http://a.fsdn.com/con/icons/wx/wxmaxima@sf.net/wxmaxima.png
NetBeans : http://c0485811.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/ed581449-f2bb-400b-b9f5-eb8d48ce1e29.png

for netbeans there is an icon yet. perhaps that icon doesn't change cause this software is not open (or is written in java, and perhaps something changes).

Can you make a little verification of this? You just have to search if there is an icon called "netbeans" in your /urs/share/icons folder!

If you don't know how to do this, just open a nautilus window -> go to /usr/share/icons -> type Ctrl+F and then netbean and tell me the result! :D

If you do the same thing in the folder of my iconset you find it?

Cause for me isnt' possible to change this icon except by hand (if you have something like awn or cairo-dock).. :(

Ah, it works now. I created a shortcut by hand (in this case, the icon is already replaced) and inserted it in awn.

Big THX for the advice :D

And, if you use the set in different operating systems, can you give me feedback?

Most of text files have 700 file permissions. Also some icons have 700 too. You can give chmod 755 to executables and 644 to icons. So permissions issue should gone. Btw i have fix this in my rpm. I' m quoting related parts of spec file. Also you can get gtk-icons-awoken-0.9-2mvt2010.1.src.rpm from ftp://ftp.linux.org.tr/mandriva-tr/2010.1/SRPMS

I think not.. redrawing all the theme in svg request an extremely huge work, cause it's in fact a redesign of all icons..considering that I'm not so good with svg, this become impossible! :D
