 Awesome icon theme

by minatolf on: Sep 27 2010

Score 50%

Hi, I wanted to thank you for all the work you put in this icon theme. I've been using it for a few weeks and it's really awesome.
I've got a few icon requests if you don't mind: covergloobus/gloobus preview and gvim text editor.

For covergloobus there is already the icon, but to change it you must run the customization script (check the pdf file inside the pack)..
for other icon, consider it done from the next version!

gloobus preview has a different icon from covergloobus?

Yes, they have the same icon. I didn't notice that you have already made a covergloobus icon because I use the elegant gnome pack and it doesn't include the script that changes cg's icon. BTW, I don't understand why covergloobus doesn't use the icon theme set by the user instead of the one in /usr/share/covergloobus/images when gloobus-preview does...

Great update :)

For a while now, dropbox has used the icons in ~/.dropbox-dist/icons/hicolor/16x16/status/ instead of the icons that were changed. I'm not sure why this has happened, but I've had to replace the icons in that folder as well.

maybe I'm the only one with this problem, but otherwise you might want to warn people this might be the case (add it to known bugs or something..)

hmm don't know how to edit posts, but anyway:

Also, in synaptic the icon for installed and uninstalled programs is the same. This is very confusing.. I remember someone else having a similar problem, is it that it can't be solved, or is this a problem only for me?

I know this issue, but unfortunately I cannot solve it in an useful way, so each update you've to run awoken-icon-theme-customization and set default configuration..

I'm sorry but I'm not such a good programmer!

I have followed the instructions to the letter. However I am stuck with red circles with black crosses instead of icons. Will re try when I install 10.10

do this: type in a terminal:
rm ~/.icons/AwOken/ && rm ~/.AwOkenrc
and after re-type previous command.

If this doesn't fix your issue, post here all what appears on your terminal window after having typed the command "awoken-icon-theme-customization".

This problem is not only yours, so it's important having a lot of feedbacks to find the bug!

This is the final version of the customization script for AwOken icon set.
Current Release: 1.2.5
With little steps, it helps customizing the set
***************************************************************************************************
Reading config...
It seems that this script was run from /home/ilesal folder. So you've installed the set from ppa and you're running correctly the script. Good choice.
***************************************************************************************************
There is AwOken configuration file (located in /home/ilesal/.AwOkenrc) that comes with 1.2 Version.
From this version this file is used only to refresh quickly your configuration settings.
Do you want to refresh your configuration settings? (y/n)

^I follow the prompts but nothing happens on completion.

post ALL you see in terminal after typing the command above, without pause or comments inside.. it's important seeing all the steps and answers you've follow!

For example: after this (Do you want to refresh your configuration settings? (y/n)) what you've typed?

Try to install this .deb file, and tell me if it works:

if not, re-send me all terminal output!

 some issues on opensuse 11.2

 by l1zard on: Sep 29 2010

Score 50%

hey nice work so far

but the script doesn't work for me. i am on opensuse 11.2.

its a silly idea to copy the icontheme to /usr/share/icons, because this theme was not installed by a package. this makes it hard to track down security issues later

second where are the older versions of this theme which simply worked for me.

1. You're on opensuse, but you've installed it by ppa or downloading it?

2. Post me the whole results on your terminal window when you try to customize the set. Giving feedbacks can help me to get a better script!

3. Copy the theme to /usr/share/icons is the ONLY idea. It could be a silly idea but it's the only idea possible. It's impossible with a deb package insert something in /home/.icons for a lot of reasons. I'm not the only who does this: for example, the only other set that gives the possibility to follow it through ppa, Faenza iconset, does the same. :D

4. Unfortunately, there are no more older versions.. I've deleted them from my computer!
