 Erroneous icons

by shitforbrains on: Aug 27 2010

I love these icons. But there are two icons that are faulty.

As juako wrote on Aug 20 2010, there are two erroneous icons that affect the package manager Synaptic. The two erroneous icons (soft links actually) are package-available.png and package-installed-updated.png found under AwOken/clear/24x24/apps and AwOken/clear/128x128/apps

Firstly the link package-installed-updated.png points to package-available.png. This means that all installed packages will have the same icon as the packages that are not installed.

Secondly package-available points to ../actions/dialog-apply.png. I don't believe this is right. The icon should make the user understand that the package is available but not installed. Perhaps a gray (inactive) version of the dialog-apply icon.

Thanks for signaling me with such accuracy! It will be simpler correct bug.. :D

From the next version, I'll change it. The problem is that now I'm working on modifying customization script to use a configuration file to always have settings about the icontheme saved.. with the ppa, with new updates user must re-run the customization script each time!

This brings two consequences: I cannot release new versions with high frequency, and drawing new icons (and fixing issues) is momentaneously stopped, to work over the script.

Moreover, I'm not very good with bash scripting, so for me it's an hard work!

However, from the next version it will be fixed :D

May I suggest using the same icons you use for jockey? Take a look at the screenshot here (http://yfrog.com/e3screenshot1vhzp) and see how it blends with synaptic...I think it's a great fit!

 Best Icon Set Ever!

Thank you so much for all the work you put in to this icon set, it really is my favourite set by far.

I have to requests that maybe you can take into consideration when doing your next release:

Xbmc Icon
Handbrake Icon
Better icon for network manager notification icon when disconnected (current one is a bit out of proportion and doesn't fit nicely with the rest of the theme).

Otherwise I am very happy with it! Thanks for the great work!

firs I type in terminal

sudo sh customize.sh start-here-ubuntu3
luis@luis-laptop:/usr/share/icons/AwOken$ sudo sh customize.sh start-here-ubuntu3
[sudo] password for luis:
customize.sh: 532: Bad substitution

then I tried with

./customize.sh start-here-ubuntu3

here it said that AwOkenrc doesn't exist, then I download it again, copy the AwOkenrc in my folder, and configure the theme again but the it said

Changing start here logo to ubuntu3...
ln: no se puede borrar «start-here.png»: Permission denied
ln: no se puede borrar «start-here.png»: Permission denied
The set is changed according to the start-here-ubuntu3 option.
Reading user config....
Changing option in the configuration file...
DONE

What else can I try?

try this in a fresh terminal window:

cd /usr/share/icons/AwOken/clear/128x128/places
sudo ln -fs ../start-here/start-here-ubuntu3.png start-here.png

this runs? because perhaps there's something wrong in the script.. :S

another thing: tomorrow or little after I'll release a new version with final script, so your icon will return to fedora. But with this script is very very simple restore previous settings. You'll just type in a terminal window:
awoken-icon-theme-customization
and, with few steps, all goes right.
If something will go wrong, can you tell me please?

 dropbox problem

 by elric80 on: Sep 10 2010

Hi, thanks for such a stylish iconset.

I was surprised to see gtranslator had an icon :) As a FOSS translator, thanks for caring for those programs!
Would you like doing one for Virtaal [1], another CAT tool, as well?

Concerning dropbox, experimental has reached a point where iconnames must be prefixed with 'dropboxstatus-*' to appear. Also, 24x24 is too big for a normal panel, and 16x16, too small, but this is secondary.

thanks
