GTK 3.x Theme/Style

Score 56%
Applecore

Minimum required   GTK 3.x
Downloads:  7662
Submitted:  Mar 3 2010
Updated:  Aug 27 2013

Description:

Applecore,

All rewritten for the unity desktop.
Based upon the ubuntu ambiance theme.

I made this as an alternative to gnome cupertino, witch looks very good bus suffers from several glitches on the unity desktop.

gnome3 users and cinnamon users might be better off with the gonome-cupertino theme.

this theme is NOT the same thema as Ambiance-smooth-applecore with leans much more to the ambiance theme.

Changelog:

Ver 0.2
-------

Includes,
scrollbars and buttons in a more realistic aqua blue that's closer to the original. seamless shading in menubar and toolbar. Aqua colored slider buttons
a darker selected menu item blue with no glassy look. Standard buttons to the left. Faenza as a standard icon theme

Slightly less round buttons for a better look in the toolbar. Better visibility of text

VER 0.3
-------

Has a brand new metacity theme. Only the buttons are bitmaps, the rest is rendered witch means that your window border will change color along with your window background now. Maximizing your window will now give an unique "melted" upper border.

VER 0.4
-------

Different buttons for the toolbar with a light shade of grey and a square shape. With that issue solved i chose round buttons again with a round reflection that comes "again" some closer to the original. Metacity theme fixed in the corners. Open office "ugly button" bug fixed. A soft darker blue gradient for the selected menu items. Brighten the panel a little bit

VER 0.4.1
-------

Softer metacity shading. Some color tweaking. Black text on the prelight toolbar button.

VER 0.5
-------

For this upgrade i ran OSX 10.6 in a virtual machine for color an behavior comparing. A much lighter palette with a dark upper border. all colors repicked from the original osx. Much thinner window borders. Grey window-buttons for inactive windows. New window border shading for inactive windows. Thinner scrollbars. A new name Humman Applecore is now Murrine Applecore

VER 0.5.1 (the beta stadium)
-------

New window buttons (semi transparent for better color blending).

VER 1.0 RC
-------
Optimized for better preformance
Cleaning up the code,
removed some bugs and unsupported setting

ver 2.0
-------

Started all over again!!
Rewritten for GTK 3

ver 2.1
-------

Fixed some bugs, got rid of some needles code.

At first glance I thought this was a YAOK (Yet Another OS/X Knock-off) but this actually appears to be the sort of thing I've been looking for. I generally aim for a look that is "something like" Mac or Windows without trying too hard to outright rip-off their look. This appears to fit the bill nicely.

Can you make a few variations on the Metacity theme? Perhaps use the program Icon instead of the "hyphen" thing (for those who want it). Maybe also let the buttons on the metacity theme get their color from the GTK theme, as the GTK buttons do. (Similar to the Murrina YAMIT theme.)

Much better than I expected. Excellent job.

Actually it is a very light shade of the backgroundcolor but you can not darken it in the theme settings menu. therefore you have to edit the code.

I gotta say that I like this theme better than the original, in that it's more shiny than themes that go for a full-blown OSX knock-off. And the ability to easily change colors is a nice bonus, too. Voted good. :-)

Gorgeous! You just made it so much better and more usable now! I'm a huge fan; this is the only light theme I can use. A dark version of this would be more than appreciated though ;)

I stand corrected. it looks beautiful still with dark colors in gnome color selector. However, the tabs look funny like that. I'm wondering what I can do to fix it, I will post a screenshot.

Ok here's an example screenshot. http://db.tt/kGWkt2h please notice that the contrast between tabs is very.... lacking, to say the least. other than that, this is almost 100% the best theme I've ever used.

Notice that the tabs even on this setting (with the dark grey colors) look sort of sunken and not very visible. Maybe there could be a fork to make lighter highlighted tabs for dark themes and the same dark/lower contrast tabs for lighter themes.

Well, I've switched to Ravenna and made the background color slightly lighter, and it looks wonderful. The only thing I prefer much more from this theme that is not in Ravenna is the scrollbar. Regardless I still like the changes of Human Applecore. Thanks for the excellent work!
