Description:

==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

 Win2-7 Support.

 by Dart00 on: Mar 20 2012

The Win2-7 Pack does NOT support any Ubuntu above 11.4. GNOME 3 broke it and Jesus, who I was working with, nor I have the time or ability now to update it. There are so many changes the pack would have to be redesigned just to fit GNOME 3. In our book not going to happen.

Thanks bluedxca93 for working on something that will proceed Win2-7. Use what ever you want from it. But when its ready, make a Gnome-look project page for it. I kinda wana keep the Win2-7 page restricted to any questions that people have about Win2-7.

Ya, Make a page for your Pack, what ever your going to call it...and post me the link and when ever Jesus gets back online Ill have him add your project page to the "links" as the second link and post a big notice on top saying "WIN2-7 IS NOT LONGER UNDER DEVELOPMENT. SEE LINKS FOR COMPATIBILITY AND ALTERNATIVE PROJECT(S)"

Sound good?

I just don't know when Jesus will be on again...I never see him on IM any more.

Its illegal if you check the box for "Win2-7 Restricted Extras".

If you leave it unchecked it installs Non-Microsoft branded stuff and still looks pretty good.

But note that the pack is only designed for whats on the compatibility chart (See the Links) and may not work correctly, or at all for any other versions of Linux.

Well someone a while back made a distro out of our Win2-7 pack: http://sourceforge.net/projects/seven-os/

Its kinda outdated but very stable and looks great! However, hes using all the Microsoft stuff, you'd need to manually modify the .iso to use the non Microsoft files...those are included int the pack as well but you have to pick and choose kinda.

Im not really sure how to modify the .iso.

However, you could talk to "bluedxca93". He is currently working on a Win2-7 like Distro, maybe he could come out with a non-Microsoft version for you?

I am looking for a linux distribution to install on a school, I want one closest to the Windows so that users do not feel much difference . WIN2-7 would be perfect but there are legal issues and so continuing my search. I found a distribution Brlix (www.brlix.com), but the computers there are in conflict with this distribution. At the moment I'm still looking. I will talk with bluedxca93, thanks again =D

The lastet ubuntu version that works with the win2-7 pack without any modifications is ubuntu 11.4. I have created a remastered cd 11.4 only with the win2-7 pack some months ago. This version is of course a bit outdated but really stable.

It seems that brlix uses KDE, and a theme like the win2-7 Pack . That is possible, but i am not able to motify any KDE configuration for a live cd.

The links for my blue 7 theme project(s):
(It is another project and it doesn't look exactly like windows)

I have installed win2-7 pack on ubuntu 10.04 and it was working perfectly OK. Then I removed open office & installed Libre Office. After this I am unable to login. The login screen comes & after giving password the screen blanks for 2-3 seconds and again comes to login window.
