Description:

==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

 Lubuntu apps

by Xristh on: Feb 21 2011

Score 50%

lubuntu and the lxde desktop have specifics apps that this version dont have the equivalent icons
next is the list that in Lubuntu 11.04
Galculator, gpicview, leafpad, lxterminal, xpad (yes I know ya a XFCE apps but Lubuntu have for default), mtpaint, simple scan, pyNeighborhood (a samba/sbm manager), pidgin, sylpheed, chromium, transmission, x chat, ePDFview, osmo, gnumeric (IS originally a part of the gnome-office), obconf, the theme changer for LSDE (lxapearance, lxapearance2), synaptic, software propiertis, desktop session seting, date and time, disk utilities

if you assk, is possible put the icon theme using the tar.bz and lxapearance (icons option) and the cursor in same eay (lxapearance) and the openboxtheme in 2 ways lxapearance or obconf but win2-7 not have a openbox theme, but the gtk-2 is a manual procedure (.theme folder manualy copy paste) and the background same way, the icon for menu is another manual but is easy due the right ckick and configuration "menu" and select the icon, the background menu not implemented a correctly image for lxpanel, but a panel of 1 color (NO gradient or demi-transparencis) if possible , and you have a win2-7 whit clasic menu

sorry bad english
I'm not a native-english-speaker and lear english for self-study

Im sorry but lubuntu and the LXDE desktop manager are not currently compatible with the Win2-7 Pack.

Win2-7 Pack is only designed to use GNOME.

(Check the compatibility chart)

I think you've misunderstood me.
I said as it was possible to make Lubuntu like win2 using your pack and setting manually, I never proposed to make it compatible with Lubuntu, but if it is true that it can be done VERY similar since it also uses GTK +, the fact is that I as able as Lubuntu implement, but never said I wanted to support or something.

I explained just something like a "How do Lubuntu like Windows using the pack you and manually configuring everything"
I also remember that the Gnome-office pack includes Gnumeric do not know if I've seen bad, but I think it is the icon ...

In any case, they will do when out gnome3, further develop this pack?

Ohhhh... Ok. Now i see.

It looks like your only problem is that the pack does not have all the icons for lubuntu if you try to install it manually.

Ill bring this by Jesus next time I see him on and maybe he can fix that.

 Perfect work except 2 things

 by magellan13 on: Feb 23 2011

I tryed this version of the pack and it works perfectly except for wine. Script seems not to detect wether wine is installed or not on fresh Ubuntu 10.10 installation. Script still freeze on Wine setup and if I install wine before with its ppa, the script does not detect it as already installed. So now, I skip wine installation and all is ok.

But there is a second mistake that I can't bypass : There is no choice for browser icon and Firefox icon is like Internet Explorer.

Please allow user to choose between Firefox original icon and Internet explorer icon for the firefox browser again.

I don't understand why Firefox icon is replaced by defaut with Internet explorer icon. Firefox succed enough now for near 50 % of French users that choosed it instead Internet explorer so why making people confused ?

Whatever, Thanks a lot for all the work.... keep the line !

Alright. Thanks for the bug report.

I looked into the wine bug and it seems they added on a terms of agreement page in the background. The script does not know how to deal with this so it just hangs/stalls.

Ill need to write code to accept the terms automatically.

As for the icon packs, i ran the script trying the GPL icon option and ran it again trying to MS icon option and they seem to all install the Mozilla Firefox Icon by default?

 GDM3 and Debian 6...

 by Dart00 on: Feb 26 2011

Score 50%

Well, I got some bad news and good news.

Bad news is there has been a update to Wine. When you install it you have to accept a EULA to install the fonts which install along with it. This EULA is specially designed "NOT" to be scritpable. Were going to have to remove Wine from Win2-7 Essentials. We will leave the Wine theme however, so if you do have Wine installed, Win2-7 will pick that up and install the theme.

On the better end, were adding Universal GDM3 Support in a effort to increase compatibility with future Distros and were working on making the pack work flawlessly with Debian 6.

There still much to do but thats the road map for the moment...

In first, thanks for your good job, really nice!

Why, when i add another user after the theme is installed, the new user/profile don't apply the theme?

How can i put it to work? for new users?
When user is new the default ubuntu look remains.

Thank you!

Well the Pack installs files into the system such as the /etc/ folder and such, as well as some files in the users home directory.

The pack will need to be freshly installed on every user currently.

Maybe in the figure we could work on that but right now youll need to install it on every user.

Hello authors!

Good afternoon!

I saw you needed a true Portuguese translator.

I'm Brazilian and I speak Brazilian Portuguese, but I understand European Portuguese.

Would you like I translate your packs into Brazilian Portuguese?

If so, please send me by e-mail.
