Description:

==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

The Pack is Licensed under GPL. It does include proprietary graphics from Microsoft but those are installed only if you select "Win2-7 Restricted Extras" which would make the Win2-7 Pack Proprietary and they are not selected by default. As long as that option is not checked the Win2-7 Pack is GPL.

Ok, after a little googling you some how managed to install the Pack in the Unity Window Manager...It should of displayed some type of warning....

The Pack is not designed for the Unity Window Manager (check the comptability chart), it only works for gnome. You will need to install the Gnome Desktop, log out and log into Gnome and install it in there.

Im not even sure if the Uninstaller will work correctly in Unity eather...

 Debian Squeeze

Is it possible to have the compatbility with Debian 6.X ? I know there's some major differences like gdm3 but it can be good to have this new distrib in the pack as it is used.

If I can help and do something, i have some coding knowledge :)

Sorry for the slow response....

That would be a great idea. Debian however does have some issues, that's why it is on the lower end of the compatibility chart, but if you think it would still be worth it I say lets give it a shot!

I will first need a .iso of the OS to load into a VM and do some testing, if I have any questions or problems ill post for your recommendation. :)

Usually you should only get a GPG error if any of the 2 scripts have been modified from what they originally should be.

If you donwloaded the pack from this source then it should be fine and im not sure why you would be getting those errors. Unless you change the script yourself.

Does the script abort when it gets that error or just recommneds you install it and click "ok" to continue....I forgot how i coded it.

 v6.3!

 by Dart00 on: Feb 19 2011

Score 50%

Hey guys!

Today we just released 6.3! So short of a changelog for the amount of time we have been working on it, there was much to do!

6.3 is not really a "upgrade" to current users, just some enhancements and more options for fresh install users.

The Pack has now been licensed GPL because when you install it, it will only install GPL only Content (See the compatibility Checker). Please not that this may mean a incomplete theme, its the best we can do.

But if you still wana install the Microsoft Stuff then just check "Win2-7 Restricted Extras" at the Win2-7 Essentials screen.

The big empty txt bug has been fixed so it pack should install fine now.

The only downside is that Croatian & Portuguese translations are incomplete. Im waiting on the Croatian translator and I seem to have lost contact with our Portuguese translator. :( Missing text has been substituted in English.

Please let us know if anyone can help translate those or translate the pack into a new language. :)

Also keep the bug reports coming!

Become a fan and vote!
