Description:

==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

Sorry guys, iv been real busy today and i havent seent Jesus on, he does not get on during weekends i guess.

I think the pack keeps getting removed cause of the copyright issues, we are trying to resolve these but it is no easy task.

Well try uploading to other mirors untill we can get our own private server again.

We really are in need of a FTP server with about 1GB of space. If anyone has one we can use that we can make a account on we would be very thankfull!

My computers off for tonight but in the morning before church ill try to do a upload to megaupload.com and see how long that lasts.

Sure. The official Win2-7 Pack "should" have the following hashes:

MD5: 40d356e31af6a09e67800c7775fb7eff

Sha256: 33e84119cc275c7ea3e5ef71380215eb0390cbd37dcc9adfe30d2a4a275bddd6

Hope thats answers your question.

Also the pack includes our GPG public key and signatures of the install and uninstall scripts for you to verify if your capable.

Also the pack "Should" attempt to verify those signatures on install and give a warning if the script was changed.

I know your work is approachable only someone explain something - when you go to someone you work with strikingly similar to Windows, why others criticize him for it that it is not Linux, but it looks like a win? Only here on this theme is all happy :-) Otherwise, I wish you much good such creations.

Well lets see...We still have the alternative Icon pack to release for Win2-7, were not going to release anything new till we get that done.

Jesus has been bouncing back and fourth between work, Win2-7 and Win2-XP...

I'm thinking well have it ready some time next month, but right now the Alternative Icon pack for Win2-7 is our main priority.

 nvidia plymouth fix

by misterbill on: Jan 15 2011

Score 50%

http://www.webupd8.org/2010/10/script-to-fix-ubuntu-plymouth-for.html

follow the instructions on the above page and Plymouth themes will work with nvidia cards with Ubuntu 10.10.

Also I have noticed an annoyance and I am not sure the cause... when I log out and log back in sometimes, not always but sometimes, the icons for the script don't load right and I get the default ubuntu theme icons. I have log out and back in again sometimes twice (sometimes reboot!) to get win 2-7 icons to load. anyone ever encounter this?

Thanks,

Bill

Only thing I have noticed is that DockBarX sometimes does not show the launchers. If I run an application, they appear.

Not a show stopper, but oh so slightly annoying :)

I haven't checked out your Plymouth fix but its on my to-do list ;)

As for the icon issue...i experienced that a bit between 5.2 and 5.6 or so, then I had a data disaster and reformatted and I haven't had it since? Strange... Also it was never as bad as 2 log-outs. I worked with Jesus a bit and he had no clue what i was talking about....still not sure what that was about.

Also for the DockbarX issue, I think that's a DockbarX issue, not Win2-7. It happens to me a few times too, I just have a script that has "killall gnome-panel" and it reloads the panel...all fixed :)

Ok. I have finished reviewing the Plymouth fix script and this is very dangerous code if something goes wrong...there is also a strong risk that the user may select the wrong Resolution and corrupt things.

I will need to think on this, its a great idea...but could mess up a lot of people if they don't know what they are doing. Win2-7 is currently newb-proof basically...

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I will talk with Jesus about it and well see for 6.3.

 tranparancy

Hello,

I have a problem with transparancy on windows panel. I already go to CCSM and ubuntu tweak to reduce the transparency, but its not work.

Anyway, i use this theme for daily use now, very simple and lovely...

Redd

CCSM by default should allow the panel to be transparent using the proper graphic and no CCSM setting should need to be modified. You may want to revert Compiz back to default values using the CCSM master reset somewhere in CCSM...

Also note that not "all" of the included panel graphics are transparent. The "Basic" panels are not transparent....try "Panel_Win2-7Original.png". That panel graphic supports transparency.

Hope this solves your issue.

Hmm. Alright. CCSM wont be able to help you with the level of transparency. You may turn off or adjust the "Blur" setting however and see if/how that helps.

If you do really wish to lower the transparency level from 50% (Windows 7) back to the 25% (Standard Linux) you will have to uninstall the hacked murrine engine and restore the standard one.

I have included code to do such a thing. Open Win2-7 folder that you downloaded and open the "Switches" folder and run "GUIInstall --reinstallmurrine.sh". That should fix your problem.

If you still dont like it or that does not work you may use another Win2-7 theme that is not "Aero" based.

Whoops....that would reinstall the Advanced Murrine Engine...sorry lol.

Run the "GUIInstall --unholdmurrine.sh" script, this should remove the hold placed on Advanced Murrine, then run the update manager and it should restore it back to default.

I did the instruction and updating and restart the computer but nothing happen...

Once in your previous version (CMIW) I think I can stop the blur effect by not check the transparent windows on installation process. But now its not work anymore. Its only minor problem. But I like this theme very much...
