Description:

==== THE WIN2-7 PACK IS NOT UNDER DEVELOPMENT ====

Thank you for visiting the Official homepage of the Win2-7 pack!

=== Intro: ===
Even from its start in late 2009 as an Gnome Icon pack, the Win2-7 Packs goal has not changed...To be the most comprehensive, easily installable, customizable and most user friendly Windows 7 Transformation Pack on earth for the Gnome Desktop! :D We are amazed at how close we have come! Feel free to download and install it, make sure to vote if you like it and comment if you have anything to say and even donate a few bucks! But be sure to read the FAQ first before you install. We have put in hours and hours to make the Win2-7 pack do a very careful and safe installation and uninstallation, but none the less, use at your own risk and make a backup just as you would during any major update. Anyone involved in the Win2-7 Pack Team is not liable for any dataloss or damage that is the direct or indirect result of the Win2-7 Pack.

=== Quick FAQ: ===
Q: How do I install? A: Run GUIInstall.sh.
Q: How do I uninstall? A: Run GUIUninstall.sh.
Q: What languages are there? A: English , Danish and Croatian.
Q: Is it compatible with my system? A: Check the "Compatibility Chart" under Links.
Q: How can I extract it? A. Use "Extract Here" from the context menu or run "cat Win2-7Pack*.tar.lzma | lzma -d | tar x" at a terminal.
Q: When extracting I get: "This does not look like a tar archive"? A: Remove ".tar" from the end of the filename.
Q: I want to help translate? A: Send Dart00 a Private Message with your language and personal e-mail and experience.
Q: My Panel Menu does not look like the one in the Screenshot? A: Gnomenu must be installed (using Win2-7 Essentials or some other way) and added to the panel manually.
Q: It looks like it installed correctly but does not have any of the Microsoft logos, icons, sounds, cursor...etc. A: You did not install the Win2-7 Restricted Extras in the Win2-7 Essentials options.

I was using your pack (with some modifactions - I don't need Windows logo) back in the time of 5.8.x/5.9.x and I really really like it.:D

I would be nice if you made a subversion, transforming GNOME into KDE. With the murrine engine it could look better than KDE itself.;]

Well, it seems u are ueing one of the panel backgrounds that is not transparent. Tryig changing it to Win-7_original.png or some other transparent panel.

But even then, i dont know a way to make it show the windows behind the panel. Maybe Gnome3 will solve this.

You may be able to do it with compiz, but it will make everything on ur panel transparent too which looks ugly.

Ooohhhh! I see.

Umm ya, Windows Xp doesnt really support .tar.lzma files very well.

The pack is designed for mainly Ubuntu Linux distros.

6.2 installation aborts at the very beginning on mint 9, though 6.1 works fine despite warnings !

Hmm. Ill try a Mint 9 test again.

I had to redesign the OS detection code to add some extra functions.

Can u give any more details about what happens? does it give a error? does it randomly close? What part does it close on?

well, it checks OS as usually, 6.1 said it couldn't guarantee correct work on mint 9 (and I use a russian distribution Rosinka on the base of mint 9) but all worked ok except some trash error massages in terminal concerning some icons. 6.2 just aborts installation after OS check :(

Could you post a screenshot of the error you get and then a screenshot of the terminal output when it aborts?

Ok. The script is looking for any "compatibly" between that OS and Linux Mint, and its not finding anything.

It may be based of Linux Mint but the script says it not a close enough match to be installed like it would be on Linux Mint. So the script wont install.

There were some changes that may prove damaging for non supported OS's, thats why i put a block. I dont recommend you install it and install it cause i don't know the effect it could have on your system.

Is there a copy of that distro in English i could take a look at?

this distro "Rosinka" is just Mint 9 with adittional missing lang packs (Russian), more codecs and drivers, all in all about 300 Mb more, system itself is not changed, all system utilities state it is mint9, moreover it is quite stable as mint is, just even more polished. So I see no reason why 6.2 shouln't work on it (5.8-6.1) work fine !

well, you are right...etc/issue is changed, it said "LM 9 Rosinka", when I changed it to "LinuxMint 9", installation went smooth )))))

Yep. /etc/issue is what the script checks for OS detection.

Your OS may be Linux Mint 9, but they changed /etc/issue to the updated OS name, hence not making it LinuxMint 9 any more. ;)
