 wonderful theme!

hello and thanks for the great theme you developed! I am using it and it is very flexible.
I have a question that what should I do if I only want to change the system icons, like the ones of folder and on the system tray? I noticed that some icons of user's programs changed too, like chrome and vbox's.
Thanks again!

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, do you want to change color on the folders but not programs,(firefox for example)? If that is the case I'm afraid the answer is that you can't. =(

Yeah I mean the firefox icon changed too. It seems a little strange since the whole icon is covered by one color, like blue. Anyway it is the best theme I ever used and I am going to try more settings for better effect.:)

Hello!

Thank you a lot for this work. It's really comfy for me as for Gentoo user to have an option to control and configure even such a part of my desktop's appearance as icons without any need to modify every one personally!

Also, as Gentoo user :) , I have one little request: please include a Gentoo logo! It's the only one I miss in your excellent (I really think so) icon set.

 Gentoo logos

Hello again! I decided to do some work myself instead of making you to do it for me (I guess that's more fair :)).

Here are the two variants of Gentoo logo, which I tried to make in the most similar style to your's as I could:
http://tinyurl.com/34anxou
I mean, technically: 48x48 px with the distance to edges of 2 px, one layer and one path for each picture.

I don't know exactly if these are acceptable, but I hope so =)

Great job, mate!
But recently I've met some issue with the icon theme. I've looked through the comments and couldn't find the solution, so I guess I can ask you for a help. After some of software updates I've tried to set an icons for a pidgin using test-based interface and when I entered password I received this error
sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts
though I'm sure that the password is correct. Is there something that I'm missing or doing wrong? I haven't faced such issue previously with your script and as I have checked right now the GUI also fails. Kindly please assist. Thanks in advance.

Also, I'm using GNOME 2.26.3 on Fedora 11, if that matters.

Try starting the application with sudo. Thats the only thing I can come up with at the moment, if that don't work I will have to do some research. =)

Well, I've tried and here's the output:
# exec /home/neolid/.icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.9.2/scalable/scripts/script_gui.py

Ok, I've added 'neolid' to sudoers and was able to run script as root. But still applications hangs when I try to overwrite icons for pidgin or perform any other action that requires root privileges.

Thats strange. Fedora seams to handle root privileges somewhat differently then what I am used to. I did a fresh install of fedora 11 and after adding my user to the sudoers file everything works as usual with the permissions. It throws some other errors but those seams to be unrelated and do not affect the system.

This makes it is very hard for me to help you as I don't really have anything to go on as I am unable to reproduce the bug. =(

 Found it.

Looks like the pidgin that I'm using stores icons under /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/hicolor/16x16/status and the names of the files are bit different so I had to go to that folder and copy ACYL icons to it and rename some files. Now the icons are displayed correctly. Though, the changing of the color scheme doesn't affect them, I presume because the script overwrites the ones that are stored under /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray/16, am I right?

Actually the changes only applies to icons in the acyl folder, if the script were to change the color of icons in the pixmap folder it would need root access and I didn't want to have that for such a general command.
So you have to copy the pidgin icons every time you make a change to have them matching the rest of the icons.

You could rename the pidgin icons in the acyl folder so you won't have to do it every time you want to transfer them, I do not think it would cause any trouble.

I'm gonna try a few things later when I have time so things might change for the next acyl version, what pidigin version do you use?

 possible contribution

I like this icon theme, actually this is the one I was actually looking for for a long time.

I have only one problem with it, I can not change the colors for the folders without changing it for anything else too.

I plan on modifying the scripts to have a different option just for that, but I consider modifying the gui to use checkboxes for the separate icon-groups.

If it works out well, I plan on contributing it back, if possible.

Also, do you plan on completley removing the bash scripts and do it in full python, or only the text-based "gui" ?

Yes the plan is to phase out as much bash code as possible and do things in python instead. Dunno when I will get around to it though.

I'm not sure how to represent what icons to apply settings on in the gui, I do not really like how it is now. With so many options it feels cluttered.

Good luck with the coding, if you have any questions ask and I will try to answer the best I can. =)
