Description:

Wasp is a suite of GTK, Metacity, Xfwm and Login/GDM themes. It include

* GTK themes
* Metacity themes
* Xfwm themes
* Login/GDM theme
* OpenOffice.org patch
* Firefox patch
* Wasp Editor
* Wasp Installer

Wasp Installer

Just use it for install/remove Wasp components.

Wasp Editor

Create your own Wasp suited for your taste.

What Wasp is

* Wasp is the first theme (as far as i know) that has had a script to take care of OpenOffice.org apps.

* Wasp takes care of most used apps with adhoc configurations: no strange behaviour like dark toolbar where it shouldn't be, no redundant borders, no compromise on general setting just because of a strange behaviour in one app.

* Wasp is not dark and is not light: dark is beauty where it can be applied, so Wasp is dark where it is beauty.

* Don't like orange/brown colors? just use GNOME Appearance and choose all colors you want, Wasp is totally recolorable.

Wasp depends on Murrine >= 0.90.3

 Excellent

I love this theme. The only thing I don't like about it is the scrollbars, I just don't think they fit the theme.

They can be changed using the editing utility - not sure why it isn't changed by default.

 by funk on: Jan 6 2010

Hi, thanks for very nice theme. I have 1 question. How to set up xsplash, or splash image in WASP manager? I set picture and then, when i reboot, nothing's there. No picture, no xsplash. Only brown background. Thanks. P.

Hi,

in Wasp editor you can change the xsplash image that is:

/usr/share/images/xsplash/bg_2560x1600.jpg

You can change this image manually to view if that work for you. If something goes wrong then the problem is elsewhere.

bye

 Big problems with Wasp

 by elzoona on: Jan 25 2010

Hi, I want to let you know about some problems with Wasp.

OS: Archlinux
Gnome: 2.28.2
Gtk Engine Murrine 0.90.3

After install Wasp has deleted a lot of preferences of my desktop, the ones that were wiped out (as far as I know, I'm still seeing new ones...)

* Reseted virtual desktops to 4 (removing all my extra desktops)
* Removed all the virtual desktops names
* Removed all the custom keyboard shortcuts
* After unistall, all the theme is removed, but the fonts size of windows' titles stills at 10 (the size used by the theme)

Just, please, check this because I've lost two and a half years of custom keyboard shortcuts :-(.

BTW, excuse mi english!

I'm very sorry for that,
i really don't know how it could be happen.

Wasp is not tested on Arch, but the installer is very simple script, maybe you can find the issue and let me know?

hope this can be solved

No problem, almost everything it's in the right place now (they weren't so many custom shortcuts anyway :-P).

So far i've been able to detect when this happens, but not why.

All desktops dissappear after this line (wasp-installer.sh Line 65):

"sleep 3 && \
gconftool-2 --type string --set $GCTHEME "Wasp""

All the gtkrc and .rc files looks fine (they don't even have anything but styles definitions). The thing is that all the deleted preferences belongs to /apps/metacity/general ...still looking.

 Re: Re: Big problems with Wasp

 by LeoZappa on: Jan 27 2010

here's the problem: in function set_compiz:

else
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gwd
gconftool-2 m--recursive-unset /apps/compiz
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/metacity
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gwd

"--recursive-unset" means "Recursively unset all keys at or below the key/directory names on the command line." (from the man page...)

these are applied if I decide NOT to install your compiz tweaks, unchecking the related line the first time I run your install script. This means that NOT installing your compiz tweaks will purge ANY custom configuration for Compiz, Metacity, Keyboard Shortcuts etc. Sorry, but this is completely stupid: I've lost all my custom shortcuts and custom commands!!! Not to say custom matches for window rules and blurring. Some things survived (custom animations, luckly) but I've lost most of my settings for wanting to try ONLY THE GTK THEME (and possibly oo.org tweaks: that's why I used the installer).

Please review the logic of your script or *at least* put a BIG FAT WARNING about this odd behaviour.

apart from purging all my settings, the theme is really nice......

 Some inconsistency

 by drazzard on: Feb 5 2010

Hey there.

Just noticed that if you switch to the light menubar, there are certain inconsistencies.

The horizontal dividers in menus have a odd-looking contrast.

Additonally, (and this is probably easier to fix) several of the 'include xxx.rc' lines in the gtkrc should probably be commented out when switching to the light menubar.

There is a problem with the above fix though. In totem for example, the highlighed text becomes the wrong color.

Screenshots:

Idk if these are fixable in your gtk, or if the source of the issue lies elseware. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

 Thinner metacity?

 fresh
 by achteutis on: Feb 9 2010

Wasp is a great theme, and I use as a favorite. However, I find the height of the metacity theme too high for a widescreen config, such as my laptop screen. Is there a thinner variation for it? By the way, the striped metacity variation is gorgeous.
