Submitted:  Aug 2 2013
Updated:  Mar 14 2014

Description:

Ubuntu-smooth is a lightly modified Ambiance/Radiance theme pack. for ubuntu 13.04, 13.10

(and ambiance-smooth for 14.04)

this package contains 8 themes

* Ambiance-smooth
* Radiance-smooth

* Ambiance-smooth Grey-n-Blue
* Radiance-smooth Grey-n-Blue

* Ambiance-smooth Applecore
* Radiance-smooth Applecore

* Ambiance-smooth Applecore-plus
* Radiance-smooth Applecore-plus

Changelog:

Version 1.1 >>

* Smoother than smooth.
The line between the metacity bar and the toolbar is gone.

Version 1.2 >>

* Added two variations.

* Ambiance-smooth blue and grey with pure grey colors and blue highlights

* Radiance-smooth-applecore.
Radiance theme with smooth grey toolbars, blue highlights and OSX style window buttons. Made as an alternative to gnome-cupertino that's suffering for several glitches on the Unity 6 desktop.

Version 1.3 >>

* Added a 4th theme, radiance-smooth.

* radiance-smooth and ambiance-smooth are now ubuntu 13.10 compactible.

* renamed to Ubuntu-smooth.

Version 1.4 >>

* Added themes radiance-smooth grey-n-blue and ambiance-smooth applecore.

* All themes are now ubuntu 13.10 compactible.

Version 1.5 >>

* Fixed the check and radio button in the nautilus menu on all the radiance themes. It is now dark instead of light.
This is an error to watch out for on the original radiance theme when ubuntu 13.10 comes out!

* Fixed a reading rights problem with the assets witch caused some themes not to render properly when installed in the /usr/share/themes folder.

Version 1.6 >>

* Fixed the blue border on the header-bar buttons (is grey now).

* made the blue progress bars and sliders lighter.

* Addded two *plus themes with more gradient in the header bar button and dark "pressed" buttons.

Version 1.7 >>

* Fixed some rarely occuring toolbar button bugs (visible in Typecatcher).

* The Radiance-smooth applecore-plus theme has now overlay-style scrollbars in GTK2 based apps like firefox. and slightly smaller buttons.

* Fixed brown tab-bar in chrome(ium) on light grey themes.

Version 1.8 >>

added ambiance-smooth for ubuntu 14.04

 Not completely smooth

Hi there!

I love the theme, but it's not perfectly smooth. There is still a line between the title bar and the toolbar. Or is it supposed to be like that?

I'm on 13.10 and the file transfer dialog is messed up when there are files that are the same and there is no check box for overwrite all and you have to hover over the buttons for them to appear.

it's not tested by me on ubuntu 13.10 yet since it's still in development they still can make changes to their original theme and i need that to start from.

I tested the Ubuntu beta today and the original theme seems pretty consistent and stable so i took the chance to rebuild two smooth themes upon them.
They seem to work fine in ubuntu 13.10 AND 13.04.

I updated today, you should check it out! if you spot a glitch please let me know. A screenshot would be helpfull.

I love these themes. However, there's some issues with using them with Nemo (File Manager in the latest Linux Mint). A lot of times the theme doesn't render on the toolbar until you hover it with the mouse. Anything you can do to address that?

Let me try this on my system at home tonight. I can't rule out that the real problem is the ATI video driver I'm stuck using at work. For the record I'm using Mint 15 with Cinnamon 1.8. Nemo identifies itself as 1.8.3. If I switch focus to Nemo's window (AKA click on it) the toolbar silvers out to the same shade as the pane containing the files/folders. I hover over the buttons and only the hovered button renders using the theme. It will revert to silver if the Nemo window loses or regains focus.

Not going through every one, but I just noticed that "Radiance Smooth" isn't manifesting the issue. I think it was only the "Apple Core" and "Blue/Grey" versions I had trouble with.

OK, it's not the ATI driver as my system at home is NVidia. The glitch manifests only on the "applecore" and "blue-n-grey" themes. Ambiance Smooth and Radiance Smooth are both fine. If you still can't repro on Ubuntu, you may need to get a live CD of Mint 15 Cinnamon (I'm using 64-bit) and try it there.

ar you using the version with the 4 themes or with the 6 themes? if you have the version with the 4 themes i suggest a re-dowload since there is been some updating since on the applecore and blu-n-grey themes.

i had a simelar error when installing the themes in the /usr/share/themes folder instead of the home/username/.themes folder.

That problem should be fixed now.

radiance-applecore is an old build of radiance-smooth-applecore.

You can erase that one.

Probably a difference between GTK2/3. Using some of the themes there are some apps for which the menu selection color is orange, and others for which it is blue. Compare the menus in gedit to either the gnome calculator or terminal (As mentioned, I'm on Mint 15). Affects Radiance Apple Core, Apple Core Plus, and Blue-n-Grey. The Ambience themes don't appear to be affected. (Version 1.6)
