Topaz was supposedly Gnome 3.0. Ubuntu uses Gnome; it ISN'T Gnome and (thank God) shouldn't define Gnome or the direction Gnome 3.x takes.

I like the modular idea, and the tabs - a bit like firefox with close buttons.

but I think the gnome folks would say it's too complicated for noobs, bottom right looks busy like kde.

Maybe if you clicked to reveal advanced mode like hidden notification icons in xp

Your artistry is amazing and the concepts are original.
I'm sure the built-in previews for the panel could be achieved using a simple aplet like may other things that already exist.
As for the menu, i don't think it could be intergrated into the current gnomenu but could maybe be a concept for a new cairo dock type aplet that lets you add launchers but also treat the launchers as a means of bringing up an already open window.
Very good designs.

Now I'd hate to conform to stereotypes here, but, as a geek in a community of geeks i feel there is only one question i can ask you in confidence. That question is fellow geeks: Kirk or Picard?

I really love it. Those tabs are a very smart way of doing a window preview. And the menu is a good concept, too.

By the way, it looks wonderful.
