Description:

Ubuntu Rain is an experimental novelty Plymouth splash that performs the follow sequence:

1. A dark, textured background with a large, rotating Ubuntu watermark and \'Starting...\' at the center of the screen.
2. Texture and \'Starting...\' begin fade-out as color-cycled \'rain\' begins to scroll down from the top of the screen.
3. As the \'rain\' scrolls down, the Ubuntu text and catch-phrase scrolls in from the sides and bottom of the screen.
4. The text elements conjoin at the center of the screen as the \'rain\' disappears at the bottom of the screen.
5. The dark backgound is then replaced by a color-cycled background with an optional watermark overlay.

The theme performs as described on an i7 3630 cpu and Intel HD 4000 hardware. Performance may not be satisfactory on all machines, and tweaking the script will almost certainly be required to achieve satisfaction.

If this is necessary in your case, adjust the values on lines 29 to 33 of the script until you obtain the sequence described above. Try increasing them by as much as double for weaker machines, or decreasing them by as much as half for stronger machines. This may require many reboots.

Note that the test runs do not accurately reflect an actual reboot.

Extract and open the ubuntu-rain-readme file in the ubuntu-rain-splash sub-folder. Use the install-ubuntu-rain script to install. Other scripts are provided as related in the readme file.

Changelog:

Preview video added at link.

v2:
Added a feature that presents a watermark image overlaid onto the final color-cycled display. 20 watermark images are provided. Enable one of your choice or disable all of them by comment in lines 36 through 55. The opacity of the watermark image can be changed on line 35.

This is the best plymouth theme ever made! I want to turn the rain into mint leaves that fall into a rippling water pool and make a splash. And I and remove the color-cycling gradient what do you think?

Go for it! Just replace the image files with your own and you're almost there.

On line 33 of the script, change the "yes" to "no".
