download the source for aurora and extract it.

go to the new directory and extract the two new archives.

open a terminal and go to the new aurora-1.4 folder:

cd /path/to/aurora-1.4

apply the patch:

patch -Np0 -i /path/to/the/patch

install aurora:

./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-animation

make

sudo make install [or] su -c "make install"

That should be it

If Windows crashes in the woods and nobody sees it. Does Microsoft still ignore it?

no there isn't. (except installing an already patched binary)
