Description:

Select files in Nautilus and right click, go to scripts and choose Make me the owner of this.

This will change the owner of the files you want. The script also checks if youre about to chown some system directories like /tmp, /usr, /etc and displays an error message telling you can't do that without breaking your system.

To install the script :
Copy the file into your :
"Homefolder"/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts

Then, make it executable.

Youre done. Enjoy !

Hope it will be helpful to others... this is my first script, don't hesitate to give me advices to make it better !

Im using Ubuntu 8.04 with Gnome... so ill explain how to do it in my system :

Right click on the file in gnome and go to the permissions section. Click Allow executing file as a program

If you are using other distributions specially not gnome-based ones, just do this in a command line cause I dont know how to do it in the GUI way and this is sure to work :

chmod +x ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/<your script file name here>

replace <your script file name here> by the file name you gave to the script and dont forget to escape space chars with a \ before them.

Hey, since this script is aimed at newbies (sorry if im mistaking, but you seem to be one :P) in the linux world, id like you to give some feedback of what could be improved.

Can you do that for me please so i can make the script better ?

Thanks in advance !
