My favorite text editor is medit.
I have combined Nitrux text editor icons with medit icon to adapt it to this fantastic icon theme:

 Folder colors

by sadi on: May 1 2013

Folder icons have changed from brown to blue and now (3.0.3) to dark grey, each very beautiful on its own.
But I think it might perhaps be good idea to include the previous versions of all folder icons as alternatives together with a simple script to replace them.
Although I personally find myself simply following your good artistic choice each time ;-)
Thanks a lot for your high quality work!

Like AwOkeN?

I had considered that but ultimately older folders are just not going to fit with the rest of the icons.

Thanks for the support!.

I don't know which is easier: a script like the one in AwOkeN (to customize colors in all folder icons only?) or a simpler script to change all folder icons with alternative ones stored in a special sub-folder.
If simply including previous versions in alternative sub-folders wouldn't fit with the rest, then I don't know if it's relatively easy to produce one or two alternatives in other colors. But when I personally tried to do something like this in GIMP, I found that it's very very difficult and even impossible for me as an ordinary user ;-)
I don't know, perhaps "reshaping" the previous folder icons might be easier than "recoloring" the current folder icons...

The simpler would be a simple script to pick a folder out of a given selection .

Including other sub-styles didn't work before hence why I dropped that idea and just focused on 2 main styles. I can make other folders that's not really the problem it's just
it becomes even more work to handle to maintain all this variants, I can make them but someone else has to maintain them, that is add more icons to them, report missing ones to us, etc.

The script part is nothing compared to the artistic work required, and I fully understand you focusing on 2 main styles at the moment.

I see that the present icon set already includes folder icons in several other colors. I think what's needed is only using these folder icons in other colors and creating a number of additional ones (e.g. for documents, pictures, search, etc.) combining these plain folder icons with the designs already used in the theme, merely changing their color, and leaving all the other non-folder-related icons as they are.

This involves less work than creating another standalone style, although it still requires considerable work (if I had a little artistic talent I would be happy to offer help in this).

So, let's hope that either you'll be able to dedicate a little more time for this or someone else will be able to do it :-)

 NITRUX-Blue

Here's an amateur attempt to create a retro variation of NITRUX by merely keeping former folder icons and using the current NITRUX icon theme for all the rest; plus my preferred way of using monochrome icons in Unity Panel:
