Description:

There are always rumours about Google launching their own OS based on Linux. Here is my take on what it might look like.

I've finished this theme now, so it's time for its full release.

Thanks for all the positive feedback - A matching icon theme is coming soon!

Recommended GTK theme is Glossy with the following colours:

Selected items background - #C3D9FF
Selected items text - #9D9D9D
All other backgrounds - #ffffff
All other text - #000000

Changelog:

v0.8 (22/6/08)
---------------
* Initial pre-release

v0.9 (23/6/08)
---------------
* Added shade and stick icons,
* Tweaked the colours slightly to be more like gmail,
* Changed the other buttons slightly

v1.0 (24/6/08)
-----------------
* First complete release
* New buttons for restore and maximize
* Colours tweaked
* Slightly smaller 'x' on close button
* New buttons for 'on top' and 'not on top'

v1.0.1 (25/6/05)
-------------------
* Very minor update
* Changed pictures
* Changed name from Google to Googol
* Added recommended GTK theme info

v1.1 (28/6/08)
-------------------
* Line on minimize button is lower
* Slightly different colours for buttons
* Made unfocused windows less transparent

 Love it!

I love this theme!

For my personal use I made the shadow without an offset and a fraction darker and bigger.

I've used sea modded forever and never found anything that could beat it. Until now. I love this theme

Thanks for the positive feedback - it's great to here that you like the theme.

If you could send me a copy of your modded version that would be great as your ideas might look better and (with your permission) could be integrated into the main theme.

cheers,

DAZ

Just wanted to let you know you should slow down and take your time making those icons so that they're PERFECT.

I want to see the final result and decide for myself whether I actually want to use this theme!

Don't worry, I'll try to get the icons right (not sure if they'll be 'perfect', but I'll do my best!). Most of them are finished, but it takes quite a bit of time resizing them all and then matching all the name conventions.

Icon theme should be ready in a few weeks - it's taken a bit longer than I though, sorry.

The dock is Cairo Dock (get it here - http://developer.berlios.de/projects/cairo-dock/)

 Amazing but tra...

It's a wonderful theme, truly one of the best but I was wondering...is is it possible you could make the whole white section transparent? So what we get is a transparent border with three (or four if you count the one on the left) circles just like they are now. With the inside of them transparent as well?

Thanks for this theme cause it's truly magnificent.

Thanks for the kind words firm!

To make the white parts totally transparent, why not try editing it? Go to System > Emerald Theme Manager, select the googol theme, then click on the edit themes button. Select the 'Theme Engine' tab, then select vruner. The first three options (left blend, middle blend and right blend) then just need changing to transparent by sliding the opacity slider down to zero.

You could then release this on Gnome-look as a variant theme!

Hope that helps - let me know how you get on!

 Spoiling it.

Wow, big thanks for the replying and such a nice reply (helpful too!). I did it but when I do it some of the sides get a bit messy. I thought about making it transparent so it would fit a bit more to my panel but I realized that this theme is perfect. I would just spoil it.

All your themes are great and I really hope you keep creating such remarkable stuff. Excellent!

Will you ever do some more icon themes?
Sth like Google type?

Hi Firm,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I'm sure that if you keep experimenting you will get a version that fits your needs. That's the thing with themes, you have to keep playing around with them until you get it just right.

I do hope to make some more icon themes, but they take a lot of time to make - not as easy as the emerald and metacity themes. They are difficult to keep the file size down too as they contain so many images. The googol icons will basically be a recoloured version of the ice icons, but at the moment I can't find a quick way of recolouring them without having to do each file individually! I'm sure there must be a quick way. Anyway, I will try to get something done as soon as possible.

Thanks for the comments!

DAZ
