Description:

Frieze is a Gnome Shell theme combined with a matching GDM (gnome desktop manager) theme.

The purpose of this theme is to keep things simple and consistent, with also paying attention to small details. Because everyone likes something else, the theme is by default customizable and it's up to you how you want it to look.

Features

- Simple and clean look
- Transparent backgrounds, so the theme adjusts to your desktop
- Includes customization options (see http://tinyurl.com/frieze-customization)
- Includes a matching GDM theme

Installation & Customization

See http://tinyurl.com/frieze-wiki for the installation and customization instructions.

What's new

January 1, 2013

- Release of version 3.6 (compatible with gnome shell 3.6)

See http://tinyurl.com/frieze-changelog for the full changelog.

 Suggestions

Two suggestions regarding your fine customization script; how about enhancing it by the following options?

1) An option to remove the icon from the application button in the top panel.

2) An option to EITHER use the black, shortened tray panel OR the transparent, full screened one.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The first one (remove app icon) is not a problem at all, I will add it the next update (I will wait a few days for bugs to show up before I release a new update).

The second one gives troubles with readability of the tray items because of the panel transparency. But if you want the option to remove the black background, you can create your own extension very easily by creating a new file and pasting the following code in it:

Quote:
#summary-mode {
background: none;
text-shadow: rgba(0,0,0,0.6) 0px 0px 2px;
}

Save the file for example as 'remove-tray-items-background.css' and place it in the 'extensions' dir within the theme folder. Now just run the script and you should see your own extension in the list (optionally you can give your extension a title and description, open other extension files to see how.

Works great and doesn't affect the readability after all, at least not with darker panel settings. Thx! :)

Thx for porting this marvelous piece of theme to 3.6!

Had to use elegance-colors in the meantime, which is great too, but your theme just tops it! :)
