Description:

!!Important!!
It is highly advised to remove previous versions of this theme before installing a newer.

Monochrome icon theme that can change color with a script. Now with filters effects!

Many icons come from the MonoBlack, area.o42 and ALLBLACK icon sets, so cred should also go to the creators of those themes. Also a big thanks to the guys at openclipart.org for sharing svg filters.

Here is how to run the script.

Type in terminal:
cd ~/.icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.8.1/
bash script.sh

Now a menu should pop up and show you what action you can to preform.

Here is a list what you can do with this script:

-Change colors on the icons.
-Set gradients to icons.
-Apply filters.
-Set opacity on icons.
-Select which distribution logo you want to use.
-Select which folder icon you want to use.
-Set a custom logo.
-Create an icon in your menu to run the script and make it possible to start it from the terminal by typing "acyl".
(Need to be redone after updating the theme.)
-Copy the icon theme to the root user thus making apps that run with root privileges use the same icons.
(Needs to be redone if you change the colors of your icons.)
-Fix applications that don't follow the icon theme in the task manager.

Comments and feedback are very much appreciated.

Thanks for your comment, and thanks for the missing icon report! The google-chrome icon will now come with the next release. However chrome don't follow the gnome icon setting so you will have to apply the icon manually. Think it's the same with google-earth. =/

 Congratulation and request

Great work, this's my favourite set.
I've a suggestion for three icons that there aren't in the set: Chromium, Gnome MPlayer and GNU Paint.

 Pidgin and Sonata tray icons

Hi! I'm enjoying ACYL! Just a request! Is there the possibility to add Pidgin and Sonata tray icons?
Thanks in advance!

The pidgin icons are being worked on thanks to one of simmesimme's contribution. I will look into the sonata ones.

A lot of apps don't follow the gnome icon theme in the tray panel. This is the case with these programs(I know at least pidgin have a bugreport about it). To fix this it will need a function in the script, not the best solution but the only one I can come up with.

 Awesome theme

 by spott3dzebra on: Feb 7 2010

I want to say that I really like this theme.

As far as I know there is only one missing icon. In Geany, I notice that the 'Save All' icon is still the default, non-monochrome version.

If this could be fixed, I would greatly appreciate it :D

Great job on the theme!

Thanks! I like that you like this theme. =)

Unfortunately I can't figure out what icon geany use for "save all", none of the themes I have on my computer change that icon. It is kind of strange since most of the other geany icons follow the themes correctly. I will drop this for now as I just don't know how to move on with this problem. If you know/find a theme that change this icon give me a link to it and i will look into it.

There is also the possibility that the icon is embedded in the geany code, if this is the case there is not much for me to do about it.

If you really want this fixed I suggest that you talk to the guys who develop geany and see what they have to say about it.

I actually never realized that it never changes with other themes too XD

Well, in that case, I have no problem with your theme.

But I do kinda wish that the icon followed the GNOME icon theme... I might have to investigate a little.

By the way, I created a couple icons that were missing from your theme to help out, although I must admit my Inkscape skills aren't the best.

I'll try to upload them after I follow the instructions that you gave to make them work with your theme.

Help is always appreciated! =)

Icons that don't follow the icon theme do stand out, especially when the theme has such a distinctive design. So I can understand that you want it fixed. If you find anything I'd be happy to implement it. =D

Regarding those instructions, they where just something quickly written by me and now needs complementing because of the introduction of filters. For the next version they will most likely change again. Just upload the icons when you are satisfied with them and I will take a look at them, and fix whatever needs fixing.

Maybe I will take the time to write a somewhat more complete instruction for the next release but it will probably take some time as I'm kind of busy at the time.

Looking forward to seeing your icons. =)

These are good, some of them needs a little fixing but not any big problems. =)

The easiest way to help is to keep making icons i guess.

Making filters is also an option. I find it kind of hard to come up with good ones and it doesn't help that gnome and inkscape renders them differently. >.<
