 Nice work

Looks very nice indeed; even though I find it difficult to work in so much darkness, I always have a temptation to use such a theme, and so I always keep one or two dark themes in my themes folder.

And the same goes for those semi-transparent windows: so tempting... But I also find it difficult when (which is very often) I don't have only a nice wallpaper underneath.

I wish I could find a way out of these dilemmas ;-)

In Ubuntu 12.04 + MATE 1.8.1 in appearance settings obtained Link dead on your themes.

If you register in index.theme this:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=X-GNOME-Metatheme
Name=AmbianceDSBlueSB12
Comment=Ambiance Dark Sidebar, modified
Encoding=UTF-8

[X-GNOME-Metatheme]
GtkTheme=AmbianceDSBlueSB12
MetacityTheme=AmbianceDSBlueSB12
IconTheme=ubuntu-mono-dark
CursorTheme=DMZ-Black
ButtonLayout=close,minimize,maximize:

Then everything is displayed correctly and works well.

 Transparency

So, to get those windows transparent, should I set up something in CCSM, or am I just missing something? Right now, only the windows' titlebars are transparent on my desktop.

I am using Ubuntu Utopic with Unity.

You should add instructions if more than standard user-action is needed...

Yes, you need to configure opacity settings in CCSM to obtain the transparency level you like. .. There's a lot of instruction out there on how to do it. .. just google: compiz transparency howto.

Yes, I know how to do it. Long term user here. :-)
It is just that I think you should have at least mentioned it in the description. This way I was hoping this theme was using GTK's rgba capabilities, which is a better way to do it, IMO, because Compiz makes transparent everyhing, even the text (which is highly undesirable), and the window borders (Metacity theme), which in case of this theme are already transparent, so the Compiz transparency effect makes it even more so. This makes the Metacity theme always more transparent than the rest of the window is, while I wanted to have it matched.

Actually, I was trying to do that. .. gtk rgba transparency. .. some parts works, but most of it don't, so I resorted to compiz for the meantime while I was searching for the cure. ..

Great to hear that! :-) I know it is probably a pain, though. GTK rgba has been a mess ever since it was introduced, which is why I guess people have mostly given it up... :-/ I'll keep an eye on this one. :-)
