Of course, get the linsta2 theme, neutronium rounded or polycarbonate dark themes.
I hope it will be helpful for you to know ;)

Metacity: there are a lot...

GTK2: few, look for themes developed for "pixmap" engine. They are too slower than others because they need to render pixmaps (pictures).

 Copyright anyone?

Do linux/*nix users don't respect copyright and licenses per default or is it just around gnome-look and kde-look this way?

Both sites however have a serious problem when it comes to copyright violations and all that stuff.

Coming from deviantart and knowing some categories there kinda well I see lots of rips. However nobody around here seems to care...

You are right, nobody seems to care about it around here, which is why I abandoned this site a long time ago. (the other reason is the horrible ubuntu logo that gets plastered on every piece of shit in here). If even the admins don't ensure that illegal stuff gets removed, then this place is a dustbin and nothing else and not worth a visit.

I complained several times about license infringements in here and the kids simply don't care at all. neither do the site-maintainer - until the police rings at their door.

I would - as an admin - block the site for one week in order to clean it of illegal stuff. But I guess this will never happen.

and who the $%^& are you?

If you abandon this site, why are you here?

That's the great thing about the GPL, we can all make any sh*tty picture we want with the Ubuntu Logo. They gave us that right. Like your some kind of artist god, or atleast better than us.

Well, I came back here in order to download my own submissions and burn them onto a CD. Thus, it is more of an incident than intent that I pop in here rarely. But I don't submit anything here anymore since a long time.

Just FYI, I do care about the GPL as I was working for several years for a well known distro as head of the graphic-design staff. (Why I am not working there anymore is a different story). What you say about the GPL only shows that you have never really read the GPL. Otherwise you wouldn't say such nonsense. Yes, you can make a stupid pic with an Ubuntu logo and submit it under the GPL. But you are NOT allowed to grab pictures that are copyrighted, plaster the logo on it and submit it under the GPL. That is and will always be illegal.

Your attitude is childish at best.

F*ck with the copyrights... who cares to be legal? Are you a policeman?. Although you are correct and I am in the same case:

I don't care the law but the meaning of the GNU/GPL: those Ubuntu tits and Ubuntu buts are disgusting after all, many more the answers of some kids when you ask them to preserve and/or create and not to download blindly from other sites.

Some cleaning would be great! But we must accept this site towards the usage statics...

Administrators would listen to us?

Yeah, the level of maturity of many "artists" here is astonishing. Partly I think they just don't recognize their responsibility to the origins of their derivative work. They take two pieces made by someone else, slap them together and post it as their own work.

If this sites owners are ever called on this I hope they can find the resources to deal with it and survive. As users we do have the thumbs down input available. En masse we could at least push that crap to the bottom that way.

 GTK is not working

hi,

I've just installed ubuntu 6.10 edgy. I don't know why but my GTK themes are not working.

I go: System > Preferences > Theme. I choose one of those that are on the list but things on my desktop remain the same.

I installed beryl as well and it is working fine. I wanted to switch to this theme: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=44570
...but since GTK is not working I can't change icons.

thanks for any help!

Firstly, try to edit by hand the gtkrc-2.0 file. If that does not work, come here and say again GTK is not working!

Is this helpful?

beryl has messed up gnome-settings-daemon

You can add it to the session or execute it from the command line. Now theming should work.

If you're using Ubuntu, install first:

libgtk2.0-dev

gtk2-engines-pixbuf

I think your GTK will work after this.

 Editing Human

Where are the textures used for the Ubuntu Human theme? I like the black menu bar from Darker Theme, but not much else. I'd like to put that bar (panel-bg-black-24.png) in the Human folder, and then use that so I can keep the other Human controls.

Probably in
