 1280 X 800 resolutio

I use Ubuntu 7.10.

Everytime I download a wallpaper which is not set excatly for 1280 X 800, the displayed wallpaper is very fuzzy. Isn't there an automatic adjustment to fit any type resolution?

set style as scaled...It would automatically scale the wallpaper to fit your screen.

if you are on ubuntu and have used the package manager i think the command is
sudo apt-get remove --purge emerald emerald-*

this will remove all emerald packages and all settings :)

Now, on fedora 8, In order to choose the themes from Apperence setting, you have to build a file
which is named 'index.theme' in the root of each theme dir with follow contents:

[X-GNOME-Metatheme]
Name=theme_pkgname
Comment=up to u
Type=X-GNOME-Metatheme
Encoding=UTF-8 #maybe others,up2u
GtkTheme=theme_pkgname
MetacityTheme=theme_pkgname
IconTheme=Mtheme_pkgname

 How2 Install a theme

 by xiaogray on: Dec 25 2007

Score 50%

simple instructors :
1.install right theme engine
such as gtk-murrine-engine(Murrine GTK2 engine)

u can install them from apt or yum,etc.

2.download themes pkg

3.check if there is a file named 'index.theme' included in this pkg. if not,create it by uself

4.install this pkg(only tar.gz) from Apperence Setting by choosing 'theme>install...' or extract this pkg and put it into /usr/share/themes/ or /home/username/.theme (hidden)

notify me if any wrong,thnx

I am having problems with making a index.theme file, i login in shell en run nano -w index.theme, i past the code wich you gave on index.theme. Then i add index.theme file in themes.tar.gz by openning with File Roller and adding it in.

As last i extract the files to /usr/share/themes or /home/alix/.themes/ with command true sheell tar theme.tar.gz /usr/share/themes

then i go to Appearences but i stil dont c the theme. :(

Unpack the theme into ~/.themes as usual, then in Theme Manager, or Appearance, use the 'Customize' button to select individual GTK2 Themes, Metacity Themes, and Icon Themes.
When you're happy with the look, click 'Save As'. No need to muck about writing index.theme entries.

Okay' I hear what your saying however, what if i'm getting a mess saying...The theme will not look as intended because the GTK+Theme engine" is not installed?

I'm trying to install "Biergarten
0.3 GTK 2.x Theme/Style"

thanks!
